In October there was a thread discussing the storage length of the Sabre FTD. Someone posted the Sabres storage length with a 150 Mercury 4 stroke as 208″ if memory serves. On the Sabre FTD description page the minimum storage length is still listed as 198″. Im sure that number is incorrect and it doesnt look like BC will have a new correct length posted anytime soon. As there is a high probability that Ill make an offer on a Florida house as early as tomorrow its absolutely essential that I know the exact length of a Sabre FTD/Merc 175/Tandem trailer/swing tongue/standard jack plate before then. If diagonal parking was an option Id keep my Cougar but its not, hence my concern. Can anyone help? Chip ReavesU.S. Army Retired (Aviation)Cougar FTD/250 ProXSShell Knob, MO/Cape Coral,FL
I am the one who posted that length. It is accurate. I have brought this up several times in the last several months and tried to stress how important this measurement is to prospective buyers, and how important that it be accurate, but nothing has been done to update it. I would doubt that the measurement with a 175 would change it much. Good Luck! The measurement listed on the Sabre FTD page is not even close.Dan
My motor is a 150 merc, but my garage is 21 3″ from wall, to the ribs on the garage door and w/ the motor down, and turned to one side, and the tongue opened up, it BARELY squeezes in. But it does fit, with about 2″ or 3″ to spare on both ends.13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
Thanks guys; without your numbers I would have made a grave mistake today. Florida homes are notorious for their 20×20 garages and HOAs that dont allow outside boat parking making accurate measurements, at least in Florida, essential. Hard to understand why measuring and posting accurate boat/motor/trailer lengths after so many requests is in the too hard to do category.Chip ReavesU.S. Army Retired (Aviation)Cougar FTD/250 ProXSShell Knob, MO/Cape Coral,FL

wow. I am glad this is posted I missed it before. The sabre ftd with 175 sho is one I was looking at too just because length was 20 foot with swing tongue on Yamaha according to web page. That should be very first thing posted on every model accurately with motor down and tongue swung along with it tongue not swung. I actually have 23 10 inches on long side of my garage but have 20 feet on single side and thought that might be option to use single side for boat and be able to park the big crew cab tundra in the garage for winter months. So now I know that isnt an option anyway I will look also at the p2 again and the Xpress x19 too besides the Sabre FTD. Sabre ftd is more than enough boat for lakes I am able to have time fishing anyway. Still love the Caracal single console the best. Just cant see spending mid 50s for a boat. Like to keep it under 40k. Thanks for letting me know length I would have been really upset if I ordered a Sabre ftd thinking it would be 20 feet and that being the winning reason I chose this direction over the other boats I am looking at.
They are working to verify accurate lengths.
I would like to note, my motor is a 2 stroke, and on a jack plate…A 4stroke might have a different clearance, and jackplate sizes could play a role as well…13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
