Missouri Residents,MO State Representative Craig Redmon and MO Senator Brian Munzlinger have proposed legislation in the State of Missouri to eliminate funding that the people provide to the Missouri Department of Conservation through a minimal sales tax and permit fees. I have attached the bill numbers and a description of what is proposed by each bill. These proposed legislative bills are currently in the legislative process and will come under great scrutiny by all. However, it is frightening to delve into a possibility that our great state and its resources could potentially lose the funding that we provide to maintain our resources because of the actions of our elected officials. Having grown up there I can say that the Conservation Dept. has done a pretty good job, and I do not see how they can continue to do their jobs without funding. It sounds about like a PETA movement of some sort.

@ 1stinLA – I am currently trying to find out if and what lobbyists are involved with this. I currently volunteer for the department with kids fishing and this would surely eliminate that program.Matt

I dont understand their motivation for this other than buying votes, and it will decimate programs and employment opportunities further reaching than just the division. Any true sportsman understands the necessity of these permits, fees , etc,,, these guys are idiots !You must support the resource and control its exposure. How can you do that if you have no idea whos using it ?

I enjoyed the use of Conservation projects and public use areas growing up, and would hate to see the loss of those things for future generations, and can not see any reason for this type of idiotic legislation except for the reason of destroying the Conservation department. It sounds like a lot of people need to write, call, and e-mail their Legislators and especially those two MORONS that sponsored those bills.

This all came about this year and had something to do with wildlife managment. It is a crock. We sportsman here in missouri are hoping like hell this does not pass and goes away. Also there is the money. The politicians want full control of it.
