I am trying to remove the wrap on a boat I just bought. Cant get any more than about 1/2 inch off at a time. Any suggestions? I have it in my shop and its about 55 degrees. Would it help if I put a patio heater beside my boat and warm it up and use a heat gun to soften the wrap? All suggestions welcome.
Thanks everybody. I wonder if I would be better off leaving it until it warms up. Ill try to find out who put it on and see what they say. Until then I will try warming it up and see what happens.
If you have a sign company call and see if the sell the “Little Chisler Vinyl Remover”. Its a plastic razor blade that will not scratch paint or the gelcoat. Use it to lift edges and apply heat and pull, heat and pull, heat and pull. Oh and did I say to heat and pull……..
I used a heat gun in my garage last year in December. It takes some time but the heat gun made a ton of difference. I followed this up with an orbital buffer and mothers scratch remover. After this step I used a buffer and premium wax and the boat looked like brand new. It takes some time but I was afraid to let someone else do it because Im pretty picky about my boat. A lot of this will depend on the quality of the wrap material that was used. Good luck!
