Have an HDS 10 on the bow of a friends Puma FTD. We are on vacation and had a major thunder storm this morning. After the rain cleared the unit will not turn on. Checked and have power to the unit but nothing happens. HDS 8 in the console works fine as do all other electric functions (pumps, lights, horn, etc). Could water have entered the HDS 10 and casued it to fail? If so, will leaving it in front a a fan help? Is there a way to reset the unit? If it totally failed would water intrusion be covered by warranty? This unit is less than a year old and has been in the rain before. Any ideas appareciated. Thanks on advance.

If it had water intrusion they will fix it, does it have anything coming out of the screws that hold it together on the back, mine had something that looked like rust water coming out of it. It was a total melt down and they sent me a new one. I was told that 3M supplied the sealer and it was not to spec and that why they have this problem and it was fixed.

If your on a trip, cautiously place it in an oven at a very low setting. Probably the lowest setting and leave it in the oven to dry if you can, or rotate it heating it and cooling it till it dries. No different than a pool submerged cell phone. Just take your time and send it to Lowrance once you get home, but dont tell them you cooked it lightly till golden brown.
