Hi,I have a 99 Pantera III.. I have noticed that when I turn right it takes 4 or 5 rotations of the steering wheel to even turn a little.. left is fine.. My thought is that there has to be a rounded off gear in the console. Has anyone ever tried to fix these? If so how hard is it..I am pretty handy so I am thinking I can fix this my self…I hope

We believe it is a hydraulic steering issue and we strongly suggest that a competent marine dealership give your steering a check. Please do NOT operate it until you have had the fluids and system checked for leaks and rebled. One air bubble could cause injury or more harm.

Do you have hydraulic steering, if so check your fluid level

Thanks..I will check the level if its good..Ill take it in.. is it hard to check the level of the fluid?

My fishing partner had a seal go out on his hydraulic steering this year and his is a 1999 Pantera 3 as well. We just happened to find it leaking a little on the ram while we were washing the boats getting ready for the season to start. Dont ignore this, it could be really bad if you do.

You dont know how to check steering fluid. What are you going to do if the fluid is low? If it is low, how did it get low? The boat doesnt use it. It leaks out. After you fill the steering up, then you have to bleed it. Do you know how to do that? Please, for your sake, and the sake of folks on the water near you, follow BCBs advice. Steering is one system that has to be right!
