Ok..this is probably and easy and ignorant question… but im gonna ask anyway… I just ordered/received the A10 SuperDash conversion. My question is: With the exception of the purple wire, are the two harness the only other things that need to be hooked up? I mean(with the exception to the purple wire) is it plug in play…in place of the old BP100?
By the way… the A10 SuperDash conversion…looks a lot better in person..I was thoroughly impressed with its appearence when I opened the box.
It requires minimal conversion and is mostly plug n play.
I wasnt sure if I should start a new thread for this one…but since it is concerning the dash conversion…I will try here first. I got the dash all hooked up and everything worked like it was suppose to. A wire had broken on the float of the automatic bilge while I was checking it(raising the float) to make sure the pump came on. I fixed the wire and plugged it back in. Now when I push the bilge button… the red light (indicating manual bilge operation) just blinks one time(comes on then goes off) Also, the horn does not work now(something in the dash itself, buzzes) If I disconnect either, the positive or negative of both of the bilge pumps(i have to disconnect both pumps) and then press the bilge button.. the light will come on and stay on in manual and automatic mode. I am wondering what could have happened..if its a grounding problem or what. As I said…everything worked as advertised beforehand. I am not real sure how to troubleshoot it. I appreciate any advice/help..and I especially appreciate BCB!
It sounds like the ATen was jostled or dropped and the key pad compromised. Try disconnecting power and resetting the dash, though we think you will be in touch with Service. We do think a ground issue is possible though lets take the easy road first.
To clarify.. the buzzing from the horn button only happens when the button is pushed. I have the dash mounted and that is where it has been every since I hooked it up. I havent dropped it or anything like that. When I first hooked it up..I had this problem then the nav/anc light button and disconnected the plugs for a few seconds and plugged back in..and that fixed that little problem..I will disconnect the power when I get home and leave it disconnected for a couple of hours and then check it out. I have not disconnected the purple wire that goes to the ignition as of yet. Thanks for your help..it is much appreciated. Blyth oh..I havent mounted the fuel or volt gauges yet.
OH! It sounds like your horn is shorted out and that is probably what was giving you fits on your dash assembly. HORNs are a major problem on some of the older boats. Disconnect the pumps individually to check the Bilge issue. Though ultimately we think once you get it assembled, you can disconnect functions to test the set up. SOme of this could be ground loops not completing circ uits . It may not be you that dropped the dash. It got there and here somehow,l and it could have been dropped here as well, or maybe even at the production shop. More hands touched it than yours.
Just an update… When I got home yesterday…I went over and pushed the horn button…and it worked like it was suppose to. I did not have the bilge pumps connected to the wires at this time. I connected just one of the bilge pumps, checked the horn and it worked. Pushed the bilge button and the light blinked on then off just one time..then the horn didnt work(buzzing in the dash when pressed) I had not unplugged the harness yet. I checked the pumps seperately by connecting them to the battery…just to be sure…I figured they were fine, since they worked when the dash was originally hooked up. I have since disconnected the harness and have yet to plug them back in and check it. When the horn is working….it works better than it ever has since I have had the boat. Anyway..just an update, i will work on it this weekend and hopefully get something figured out….Thanks Again!!!
The horn is not a problem anymore….It seems to work just fine… until I mess with the bilge pumps…but it starts working again..kind of like the relay(if that is what it is) behind the button doesnt want to kick in..but If I hold the button down for just a few seconds, the horn kicks in. It will buzz for a couple of seconds but kick in…if I havent messed with the bilge pumps…it kicks in right off. I am no electrician….so..I am not real sure where to check or look…but I can not have either of the bilge pumps connected…. When I first hooked them up…they worked fine..until the broken wire on the float switch…once that was fixed…is when the problems started…so…I disconnected the float switch..hooked up the two bilge pumps. I pushed the bilge manual…and the one pump started working. I then pushed the button to automatic and no pump came on(i expected this since the float switch was disconnected) I made a jumper with a piece of wire and two alligator clips and connected them to the wires that the float switch connects to. Both pumps kicked on and started working…I then suspected it must be the float switch…so I took the jumper off and turn the bilges off. I then reconnected the float switch and push the bilge manual and the one pumped worked…I then crossed my fingers, toes, and legs…stuck my tongue and closed one eye…then pushed the bilge button to auto…and both pumps kicked off…. I tested the float switch by raising and lowering it several times..pushing the button between off, manual, and auto several times and have not had any issues… Wierd..but like I said..I am no electrician..not sure what the problem was/is but it seems to be working now. If something pops out that may be a potential problem…let me know…as I have no idea what the issue was/is… All I can say is thanks for the great support….cant wait until I am able to buy a new boat…hopefully in a year or two….and Basscat will be the one for me. Sincerely, Blyth
Why dont you contact the Service and Parts crew next week and let them pop another A10 in there for a test run. BCB
