I have bettery trays that are made for 2 batt to set side by side, I have 31 series and looks like I could put bigger batteries in. Pete

Will they hold a group 29 battery? I have the aluminum ones.

I have the aluminums and use Cabelas AGM Group 30s, so 29s should fit. Grp. MCA CCA RC Wght L x W x H 30 , Both, 1525, 1205, 205, 84, 13.0 x 6.88 x 9.56, || Last edited by StanH on February 12th, 2009, 8:08 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I have group 30s in the aluminum tray and they fit no problem!

Next question does the Optimax need 1000MCA or 850MCA?

Ok its a 1000MCA according to Mercurys website. I have purchased a AC Delco Group 29 battery and it is 845 MCA and 645 CCA. It seems to be a larger battery but will it work on the Opti?

Fundamental listing for your knowledge and selection. No better or worse and there are better and worse within the same segment brands. Just take your pick.
