I know that its in here some where but I just havent found it. Im squashing the idea of getting rid of the single axle Sabre trailer for a tandem axle so Im going to updat the my single axle trailer. Can someone tell me the excat dimensions of the rims including off-set? Can Iget away with a different size then original? Is there a size recomended now then when my 2000 model trailer was new. Can I change from 15″ to a 17″ or 18″ maybe?

I believe it is a 15×8 you can go up or change rim size you would need to know the lug pattern I am not sure exactly what it is. The other thing you will need to consider is the bigger the rim the more a set of tires is going to cost you. plus you will have to run a low profile tire as well, road hazard then becomes a factor also pot holes, curbs, boat ramps, ect. so may want to think about those as well. I like the new tire and wheel packages that they offer but here in Alabama alot of county roads to boat ramps and they arent exactly trailer friendly.

After closer look my trailer has 14″ wheels. Has anyone put 15″ wheels on their Sabre trailer? If so would you care to make it easy on me and share the tire/wheel size combination? Im guessing 7″ width with know offsett on the rim but thats all I can come up with for now. Thanks for your help.Last edited by fseikp on February 11th, 2009, 9:21 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I have been in the tire and wheel industry for over 15 years. I had a 99 Classic that came factory rigged with 14 inch wheels on a tandem axle trailer. I changed from the 14 inch to the 15X7 inch wheel with a P215/70R15 BF Goodrich Radial TA and MAN what a difference. The trailer pulled better and the tire wear was amazing. To answer your question about the bolt pattern it is a 5-4.5 inch bolt circle. Most wheels in this size come with a standard 0 offset so no special offset is needed.This a very common trailer fitment and there will be plenty of aftermarket wheels available. As far as going to a 17 or an 18 inch wheel and tire, well thats up to you . Your cost will increase and the tires arent going to last as long. As CatLuvrPIV said you will be more at risk of potholes and inpacts. Which in the long run can put more wear and tear on the trailer itself. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys, It appears as though the original wheel is a 14″ X 6″. Im guess if I go 15″ X 7″ there woll be enough room in the fender well? There looks like there is plenty of room now.
