Ive got a brother that lives in Havana , which is about an hour south of Peoria . — Ill see if he knows anybody in the area that guides the river / lakes . — He ended up in the hospital when one of those carp missiles took him out of his pontoon boat . — Almost broke his neck !! — He figured it weighed 15 lbs. or so as it busted him in the chops . — Said it packed a pretty good punch !! — Hoss
I live on the other end of the state, most of that fishing is river fishing and if I remember correctly most guys that do well involve long runs through locks to their “honey holes”. I recall some friends talking about very low tourney weights, may have changed though.
I live in Louisiana, New Orleans area. We will be headed that way to visit family just thought it would have been nice to do a little fishing somewhere different. Thanks again for all the help.
That is the week of the OI in Texas or I would take you out. How long will you be in peoria for. There is a lot of good fishing around here. There are a lot of cooling lakes around here also. If you live in this area you have to have two boats. A 25 hp and a bigger boat. Banner march is about 15 min. from peoria and it is a 25 hp limit lake. The limit is 12 and under and 18 and over. There are some really nice bass there. It takes around 20 pounds to win a tournament there with 5 fish. Also lake sangchris is a nice lake also 25 hp and the bite is usually very good there this time of year. Clinton lake is an hour away with unlimited hp. That lake is also a cooling lake but the biteis typically slower. The lake has too many Asian carps for me to fish but there are people that love it. And yes the largemouth dont get very big in our river but the smallmouth are good size. There are also lake Springfield, jacksonville, spring lake, powerton and many others. All in all the bass fishing is above average here but sometimes you have to jump in a 175 foot boat with a 25 hp to fish. Dumb Illinois laws. Let me know how long you are staying. I could take you out.
