Here are the facts: The 2010 Owners Invitational was the smallest event in the last 20 years. The event is working wonderfully at home, and there are a lot of used boats and a few new rigs within the radius of the Mountain Home area. We never want to forget those in North Arkansas or South Missouri who have been really good to us for many years. Though the facts are that we can not survive on Mountain Home and the amount expended there is way too large on a CPU for the one event. Our larger markets are in other areas and we are not able to target those individuals who are financially paying for the Invitational through their purchase of newer BCBs. Granted that many of the MO and AR participants are from St Loius, Texarkana, Ouachita, Little Rock, Springfield anf Lake of the Ozarks also. This is the oldest and original Bass Boat Owners event in the country. It is the largest organized event held as a full blown bass tournament. And it is all Bass Cat Boats. So that complexes things some as we are not in our strongest markets with the Owners Invitational. Thus we have to try and do something to help the next part of this. That part is we have another problem! In the 1990s the tournament drew from all over the country, in the years of 911 (9/11/2001) and early 2000s back to the mid 90s the event was larger and drew further. There were many of you who drove over a thousand miles to attend. That has come to a slower participation level. There was less than 3/4 of a keeper caught per person, per day in 2010. We have to assume that the low catch rate has something to do with it as many of you plan this trip for your get out of the house with spouse or friend weekend. Often the only one of the year. We have a massive amount of data retained on the event. The pie charts below are from 2007, 2008 and 2010. We could do this going way back. And we also have it by model year and by state. So we can tell what states have more new boats, and those in the older categories. Then we can track those registrations that and transfers that are purchased in another state new than they land used. We must re-energize this event or the Strike King Mercury Marine, American Rodsmith, MotorGuide, HumminBird, Vicious and many more sponsors who have loyally supported this event will not be able to justify their expenditure either. Our fear is that the event shrinks to a level that we only have a moderate local field with a small visiting crowd. You all know we are rather meticulous in our outlook on anything we do. And this is not any different. The charts below we have shared with very few people. Though we are sharing them now for you to understand our predicament. So thank you for your support and here is the real situation we face on the participation. These are from 2007, 2008 and the last event 2010. 2007 20082010
always make me hungry? (im kinda embarrassed that someone from JAPAN can make it, and im right here in louisiana, but didnt attend……doh)
Where do you want to go with this? What do the corresponding charts look like for new sales? I assume you are wanting to move the Invitational to an area where current sales are the strongest or where the potential sales are the greatest. If you would like to look at this from a geospatial point of view give me call, Im the database administrator at the Columbia Regional Geospatial Service Center at Stephen F Austin State University. We have those also Mike, and we know where our markets on new sales, as well as those who travel to the event are from. Locally BCB of course will take a little rashing on the move potential. Though we also have to try and enhance the event. The numbers are also broken down here as to driving miles, and age of model, as well as models individually.Apparently they felt the need to share the simple Pie Chart for the reasons mentioned. That was to inform those who have participated the view that BCB sees from their perspectives. BCB Admin.
The MS slice would be a lot greater if I could get these guys to trtavel for this event, but there is so many conflicting team events during that time of year. Not sure if they would go at any other time, just the nature of the beast. We have a tremendous amount of BCB boats at local tournaments. Dont really understand what were tring to accomplish by moving the site. MH is the most accomodating place Ive ever fished any tournament and that is important to those attending, with the plant there for tours, hospitality bar none. I think they are after numbers but I dont think moving will help. One of these years I WILL be there for sure. Time is a scarce commodity these days for a lot of us.I would love to see MH. Plant tours are a big deal. Fishing home waters & BCB birth place seems fitting.Charger has owner invitational at LOZ because they claim the boat was designed there.Maybe a different time period would do better?Barney Fife Tim
Ive been to the last 8 OIs and though I havent fished the first one I believe it should moved around from state to state. It will give other owners the opportunity to attend and see a little more what BCB has to offer. Not all can afford to take off all week from work or even get more than two or three days off at one time. Holding an event away from headquarters will make it more difficult logistically, but in the end its in BCBs best interest to draw more attention to the product.
I really like Phils idea. I didnt vote in the poll because it didnt seem right to ask BCB to incurr a logistic nightmare, but Id love to have it closer at least once.Bob
So maybe alternate. Everyother year bring it back home. Every other year a new lake.
I think based on my map we should move it NE to maybe to the Indiana/ Kentucky area….(not sure how the fishing is there because i have never been) You will have a good amount of guys driving the same distance but to a new destination, Closer for some of the long distance guys….I know for a fact that if you move it in that direction that the graph would be more balanced and you will definitely give a large number of guys a shot at making it to the event who otherwise would not be able to commit to the long haul to Mountain Home. Alternate every other year back to AR where BCBs was born….. Guys and families that get a taste of what goes on at a closer location may make the time to drive to Mountain Home the other years.
