I have owned a classic and i currently without a boat and plan on buying another pantera or maybe taking the big boat jump, so i guess my question is what is the hull differences in the panteras pertaining to ride and speed b/c i have seen some top speeds mentioned on here that i could never get out of my classic and i am aware of the way a bass cat is supposed to be trimed and driven but my classic still did not handle rollers very well in my opinion, so i would like to have a boat that is fast but rides well please forgive any spelling or grammer errors

My 2 cents worth . — I ran an 88 Pan2 for 19 years , and now have a Classic . — The Classic is lighter , and therefore rides a bit firmer ( barely ) than the 2 in rough water , but the hulls are like day and night as far as trim settings . — From what Ive read , the Pan 4 is better in rough water than the others , which I would say is partly due to the weight difference I mentioned earlier . — Could be , and probably are , other contributing factors as well . — For my purposes , the Classic is all Ill ever need , but everybody has a different criteria . — I guess it all depends on where , and how you intend to use your boat . — Call BCB , and Id bet theyll tell you whatever you want to know . — HossLast edited by BIGCATTER on December 5th, 2012, 6:31 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Speed is overrated typically. Sure I can speak from experience that in the 70-80 mile trips we all make at Dardanelle its nice but it probably doesnt matter that much.Trust me you are getting beat all the time by guys goin 60-65 all day long.Reliability, reliability, reliability, then ride, fishability, and speed to me.When Dardy gets ugly it dont matter what boat you are in I promise. Sure its easier in my puma ftd but when its rough its rough. Drive the edges and not the channel and go slow.C.O.D. Jr. III

Ye old Pantera was a very nice boat matey… arrrrrrrrrrr. I would reccomend a PIV or Puma for ride and speed!! PIV with a 200sho or 200 proxs has to be 1 hot ride!! I loved my cougar, but I think the PIV are a cut above in the ride department.

My team partner had a Classic and I have a PIV, the difference is night and day as far as rough water ride goes.

PIV or the Advantage Puma or Cougar.
