Does anyone have an explanation why Mercury has switched from recommending Premium Plus Oil in the Pro XS line to the Optimax/ DFI Oil?James

I dont think they have. As far as I know, you still should use Premium Plus in the ProXs models. Thats what my dealer and my owners manual recommends.

It sure does say that! First Ive heard of it. Wonder whats up with that? I checked with my Mercury guru, Sherm of Sherms Marine. Hes not heard of that, but said he will check with Mercury later on today to find out for certain. He kind of thinks its an error on the Merc webpage. Don over on BBC confirmed this is an ERROR.”This is an error. ALL ProXS engines (except for the 200 ProXS) use PREMIUM PLUS OIL.”

Probably becuase the 200 is not a true pro xs motor like the rest.

That they do, but I am sure that the 200 still has steel reeds unlike the 225 and 250 pro xs that have carbon reeds.

Pretty much just slapped the Pro XS stickers on the 200 to sell more engines………….96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
