when flipping/pitching which is better, high or low gears?

Depends on depth and cover? Do you have need for the power in brush or the speed such as in grass.

I would go with a high speed for quich flip and retrieve. More time in the water=more opportunity to catch.DESERTDWELLER.COM “GET YOUR BASS IN THE BOAT”

Never used it but, Ardent makes a flipping specific reel that only holds like 75 or 80 yards of 20# test in a 6.3:1 gear ratio. Also, the Abu Garcia Wench is supposed to be the real deal and I think it is a 5.4:1 ratio but it holds a “normal” amount of line. I have a couple of the other Revo series that I really like. They dont weigh anything and fit my hand well.John

personally i lik the high speed because i lik 2 get my bait in and out of cover faster plus if u hook 1 u can horse it out fast
