salty1dog, Ill take the liberty of repeating what BCB has stated on this board before..this forum is your owners manual. Feel free to ask any question and youll get help here. Dont worry about asking seemingly silly questions either. Just about all of us here have been in your shoes at one time or another…
This would be your Onwers Manual, though you also can print the PDF from the main page for your BP-100 dash, assuming you have one. Most P2s had the BP-100 dash board. BCB
had same problem on a 94 mariner mag efi My battery leads were badly corroded, put new leads I think #6 lead wire size and fixed problem of course after buying new battery Tim
went and ran the boat today and the cranking battery died while on the lake. while coming back to the landing and getting on plane, the motor started cutting out when i hit the trim, also my gps would come on and shut off after about 30 seconds. my question is this, once the motor is running, shouldnt it produce enough juice to keep enough power in the battery to work the trim? should i be looking at the alternator (or whatever the technical term is) on the motor and how can i test to see if the motor is producing power. 94 200 mariner 2.5 efi thanks guys brad
Rich, Im running a 26 tempest and this past weekend with 2 people, full tackle load, 40 gallons of gas, and livewell full I could run 70 with no current or wind. I was only turning about 5400 rpms. I think a 25 fury would be the prop to have in the summer months tournament fishing. I have run a 25 fury but it was in the winter with only me in the boat and I turned it to the limiter at 74.4 mph. It had the best holeshot of any prop Ive tried.
I would think a 25P Tempest Plus. I ran my PII with that Prop on a 3.0L Mercury 200EFI. She turned it in the heat of Summer to 5850 RPM with GPS Speeds @ 73.4 with a hefty load and 71.2 with lievewells full and 5700 RPM. The holeshot was very good.
It seems as though people have almost forgotten about the Trophys since the introduction of the Fury. I still run a trophy on my Classic. I think a 25-26 trophy would make you very happy. Most people have one complaint about the trophys. They tend to bog down when loading onto the trailer. Other than that, They are just as fast as a Fury, probably handle a little better overall, and if set up correctly will have a great hole shot. Im not saying a Trophy is better than a Fury, Im just saying to Try one out. You may find its an all around great prop. I had a 25″ Trophy that was balanced and blueprinted by DAH propellors and it was the best prop Ive ever had. You talk about a sweet little thing. I sold it when I sold my 2.5 liter 200 and I regret it everyday. Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
I do have a 25 Trophy and it is decent but the 26 Fury beats it in every category. I think it is between a 25 Fury and a 25 Tempest. I have a 21 Tempest I thought I would throw on just for kicks and to see if I can hit the limiter in under 5 seconds…
X2 on the Trophy!!
I consider myself a somewhat inexperienced driver with a 07 Classic 200 Opti. Ive run the 26 Trophy plus and now the 26 Fury. Neither has been worked or balanced as far as I know. The Trophy Plus had decent hole shot, was easier to handle at top end and better top speed at 71.4. The Fury is phenomenal out of the hole in comparison. On plane in two boat lengths and to 60 in no time at all. From 60 on, I find it a hand full. Again, Im inexperienced compared to many on here and Im still playing with jack plate height. The Fury is an awesome cruising prop. I can do 5 0mph or more and only turn 4200 to 4400 RPM which is great for fuel mileage. Im not qualified to make a recommendation but can only relay my experience so far. I also have a 27P Trophy Plus I need to try out. Ive been advised on here to give it a shot because I may be surprised with the speed/handling results. All speed testing will likely be put off till next season from the looks of things. My home lake (Southern Lake Champlain) is so full of debris, again, that going much more then 30-40 is insane.
I did extensive testing on a 2008 Cougar FTD and some on a 2009 same boat, both with 250HOs. The Fury proved to be 1.4mph faster than the Trophy. The Trohly is a GREAT all around prop and is smooth but the Fury is just a bit better all the way around. My bet is that a 25 Fury will met your goals.I got to where I ran a 26 Fury in the cool months and a 25 in the warm months. Both of which I left the PVS vent plugs open. Rich,I run the 25 Tempest Plus on my 11 P2. The hole shot and mid range are outstanding with the 200 Pro XS. Top end speed is 70-71 during the summer and 72-74 in the cooler months. RPM range in the summer is 5700-5800, and it hits the rev limiter in the cooler months pretty consistently. These numbers are with 3/4 tank of fuel and livewell empty. While we all discuss numbers, lets talk about the load/weight distribution for a moment. The front storage compartment is basically empty in the summer except for lifejackets. In the winter, front storage is used for clothes. The storage compartment between the cooler and the front compartment has 8-9 3700 planos with crankbaits, two utility boxes with weights/hooks, and maybe a half dozen bags of plastic baits. Port rod locker has 6-8 rods. Starboard rod locker has less than 15 pounds of items in it. Back storage compartments are used for storing the bulk of soft plastics, jigs, and spinner baits. I weigh 190# and fish mostly with my son who is about 145#.This boat actually seems to perform a little better with weight in the storage compartment between the cooler and front compartment somewhat loaded. I tried moving all of the tackle to the back compartments to see what would happen. The boat wanted to porpoise at higher speeds, and it did not gain any speed. Now that I have had the boat a few months, I may drop the engine 1/4″ – 1/2″ to see if the rpms will drop just for kicks. Like you, I have wondered about the perfect prop, but overall the 25 Tempest Plus seems to be doing a pretty good for us. I would like to try a 26 Tempest Plus and run a 25 Fury, just for kicks. The top end is not as important to me, as it is for a lot of guys. Additionally, this combo seems to be really fuel efficient. Fished Lake Eufaula yesterday and only burned 2 gallons of gas, and manged to keep my 14 year old entertained catching fish.Best Regards,Carky Freeman
I would suggest the 24 fury for really heavy loads. I can get 68 out of mine loaded to the gills with full gas, 2 guys and full livewells. I can pretty much guarantee that I carry more weight in gear than just about anyone. Holeshot and midrange is unbelievable. I am going to try a 25 fury this weekend to see if it performs the same with a heavy load. I am also running 1/4″ above flush.
