Guys! This AM I read on BassBoatCentral a question from a gentlemen regarding quality and Ranger Boats! I know that many of those posts are opinions, but there are some that are statements of fact. If you guys have time I suggent that you read it, all of it, and draw your own conclusions. Regards, Chuck
As to where on BBC this might be or is it a game?
It looks like it is on the Ranger Boats page at Bass Boat Central. We find this cropping up more in the recent year or so. Much of this stems from the JDP award and we simply work hard to continue and offer that type of quality and service. Other seem to feel we had an unfair advantage. Actually, we internally saw our quality increase in 2008, and that is continuing into 09. We know we have gotten better. There have been major enhancements and motivation in our staff to do better. We hope that shows this year in those JDP numbers. Though we also know the numbers get scrambled during difficult financial times. Which leaves that verdict unknown, as folks seem to be less satisfied when their internal finances are squeezed. In about six months we will know how you all feel on this! Most of you know that we at BCB have always been driven to offer the best in customer service. There is a contention that our limited production is why we are able to do this. While that seems to be a positive, that is not totally the issue. Ranger has plenty of folks that are in their staff who have long term employment. Many are as long in tenure as any we have here. So experience is a null factor. Actually, we feel Ranger does a pretty good job on building a boat. And we dont have to say that! Are they overpriced, inaccurately describe aspects that are sheer marketing, and selling FLW/BFL instead of the boat, YES! Though they do have a fairly well built platform. Obviously we are a little partial to our methods and product, though there a other bass boats which are a lot worse. Ranger has not got the aluminum decks that one competitor has, nor the foam transoms that all others have. They have adapted a style of transom from something we worked on and inquired with a company (Vega Tech.) in Marshall, AR years ago. Ooops~! We did not know that Forrest Woods was a partner there at the time. It is not nearly as tough as the all glass one piece molded transom we have, though it is significantly better than the other transoms out there. They also have adapted many aspects of our construction methods into their variations of those processes. We know they do try over there also. And they as well would also like to attain the JDP title again. The size of Bass Cat is on purpose to control the longevity of this company with minimized overheads. Stepping out and being big has proven to fail for all of our competitors who have not sold, and some who did that. We prefer to try and stay at a fixed size, and we are not at our capacity in this market. Nor have we been since 91 – 92. We have no desire to be that size, as in difficult times it has proven to be brutal on others. It is brutal enough where we are in times like this. Though size is not why we are focused on customer service and quality. It is what we do here, and we hope we always do. Just an FYI for you guys on the postings like this. We are not prefect, and never will be! Though it doesnt mean we cant try to be! Thanks Guys! Rick

Well Said BCB! Ask and ye shall receive Ward. http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=311188
That was an interesting read. Quantity should clearly never trump quality, as stated above. These boats cost too much dang money! Heck, I bougt an 05 Toyota Rav4 for $17,500 and it hasnt seen a wrench since it rolled off the dealers lot. Why should anyone expect anything less after unloading $45-50,000 on a boat? Keep up the great work BC!
I love this board– you can always get a helping hand! Reading this makes me count my blessings. Shortcomings come to all of us but I guess this would give further credibility to the JD powers awards. Most of us on this board get accused of the herd mentality when it comes to BCB but the plain fact of the matter is there isnt a string of 15 guys like that post with 15 different things wrong with their boats- who are unhappy enough about it to publicly proclaim it. I am sure BCB makes their share of errors but for me its how trends are addressed and you clean up when the unavoidable happens. Take for instance the clean up efforts of a senator from North Carloina, or a football coach at Arkansas…versus the 10000000 times weve all seen someone from Mtn Home call a motor company or local dealer to make someone happy. Heck theyve done it for all of us when it was our own faults. If folks want to call it a herd mentality- fine. I call it using your frickin head.C.O.D. Jr. III
My opinion about the price thing versus reliability is that you dont drive your truck with the hammer 80-100% down most of the time and then turn the sucker immediately off in a motor that is much smaller than the one in your truck. I figure stuff is gonna break.C.O.D. Jr. III

What is herd mentality??? BCBs have the best of everything and all other boat brands dont compare in any category! What do you other basscat owners think? Ward using them analogies is making my brain hurt.
