Picking up my new boat this week. What products are recomended for keeping my new boat looking new. Thanks
Cory, U can use lemon Pledge, Bass Boat Saver, Bow to Stern, Or McGuires/Turtle Wax spray detailer. Phil will respond Im sure and I would listen to him as he keeps his boat spotless!
Bass Boat Saver all day long. I am sure there are other great options too.
Bass Boat Saver. It is as good as advertised.
I wasnt going to reply but since my name was mentioned I guess that leaves no option. There are many different products on the market that will keep one in top condition. The most important thing to do is to wipe it down as soon as possible after removing it from the lake, river, etc. Nothing replaces soap and water for cleaning. As far as waxes / sealants……..Protec sealant is good. Its been on the market a long time and is easy on and easy off. Any of the carnuba waxes work well also. As far as spray detailers…..it can become confusing as there are so many on the market. I like those that leave the least amount of film and I would not use the as a one for all application. Dont assume that you protecting the gel coat because youve used spray wax to wipe off. I just dont think there is enough there to do any protecting. You can choose any of the following as theyre all about the same in my opinion. Ive used them all. Listed in the order of leaving the least film/haze.1. Turtle Wax Spray Detailer2. Meguiars Spray Detailer3. Shazaam by Wilson Frazier4. Restore5. Lemon Pledge6. Bass Boat Saver7. Protec Spray DetailerAgain, I wouldnt use any of the above as a one for all. In addition, do not use any type of armorall, son of gun, 303, or anything else of the kind on your seats to make them shine. Use only Lemon Pledge. These type of sprays will make your seats fade over a period of time and the vinyl dependent on the spray after a short time to make them shine.Other tips…………If you have a Detwiler jack plate make sure you wipe it off immediately after removing it from the water. Nutrients in the water will fade the anodize on the jack plate. WD 40 seems to help retard some of the fading.Do not use anything but soap and water on your tires and wheels to clean.Good luck and enjoy your new boat!
Try Sharkhide on the Detwiler plate to deter the anodization from fading.
You say armorall will make the seats fade but will it harm the vinyls integrity?Armorall and STP will degrade both the vinyl and the stitching in short time. BCBLast edited by 1958 on June 6th, 2011, 2:31 am, edited 1 time in total.
I use this and have great success. Used on my 2004 and now my 2011. 2004 looked like new when I sold it.Ron
I WIPE MINE DOWN WITH TURTLE WAX ICE….IT IS NOT AS HARD TO WIPE OFF AS SOME THAT HAVE BEEN MENTIONED AND IT ALSO CONTAINS SOME WAX..THE ICE WAX IS UNBELIEVABLE,IF YOU GET IT ON THERUB RAIL IT DOESNT TURN WHITE,AND IS VERY EASY TO REMOVE….PHIL USES SOAP AND WATER ON HIS TIRESI USE AJAX OR COMET BECAUSE OF THE WHITE LETTERS…HES STILL YOUNG AND CAN RUB HARDER…MYSELFI HAVE TENDINITIS ,ARTHRITIS AND EVERY OTHER ITIS….PHIL IS STILL A YOUNG BUCK, I HIDE WAY DOWN IN THE SWAMP.HE ALSO EATS MORE REGULAR THAN I DO….HE DOESNT HAVE TO WORK AS HARD EITHER.I DO LIKEMEGUIARS CARNUBA FOR A SUPER GOOD WAX JOB…ALL IN ALL I BELIEVE IN MR ADDISONS OPINIONS..HE IS VERY WELL VERSED IN BOATS AND IN BOAT CARE….NOT MUCH ON SPORTS OR WOMEN THO.
Hard to argue with a guy that owns black boats!!!!C.O.D. Jr. III
