Tough Weekend on Falcon

We fished Falcon this weekend and it was S L O W! The college kids were out, and pretty interesting seeing them. Dallas Baptist had their guys in Legend Alpha 199s and one 211. The 211 (I heard did not witness) was swamped due to the 35 m.p.h. winds. One of the 199s hit the Velano bridge and bent their prop shaft…..The kid said he was looking at his graph and not paying attention. Then here comes some Black and Yellow Cougar FTD hauling BUTT through the waves. I didnt get the college they attended, but these guys were nuts. I talked them, and they raved how the 250 took them from the County ramp to the dam in all that rough water. I think its Kool-aid and hormones that did that!Oh, the fishing! It was horrible as I mentioned. I could only muster 14#s on 4 fish – for the weekend! The college kids had the leader at 14.8 on three fish for day one. Dont know what they did today, we weighed at 1 p.m., they came in at 2. Regardless, the PIV handled the waves great, and Im still a happy owner. Most guys hid out of the wind, I was able to fish in it, so its all good. The water at the County ramp was almost chocolate milk. I caught fish on frogs, and a jig. All fish were caught early – before 9. The guys that fished the dam did okay, but the wind was factor for them on that end. Not used to Falcon fishing like that, but hey, its fishing, not catching.Tight lines,JP

You cant abuse them and continue to use them. Sounds like a tough weekend on Falcon.

Jon,Sounds like a hell of a lot better weekend than anything Ive done in awhile. We need to make plans for an Amistad trip next spring. After last Feb/Mar I am hooked on that lake. Not to mention the $55.00 a night HOUSE at Laughlin. Chaz- Chaz

Chaz$55.00 A NIGHT ?????? — Chaz , how about hookin a brother up ?? — Trying to decide whether to go back to Fork next spring , or trying Amistad for a change . — Sounds like lodging is ALOT cheaper at Amistad . — This could be a deciding factor as we usually stay 7 or 8 nights . — Just give me a phone number if possible , please . — Thank you . — Hoss

Maybe they are attending WGs academy for ” gettin there and back”? Any great boat should make the driver look good and feel confident in his ability to compete and complete a derby.

Hey all, yeah $55.00 a night is military bungalows on Laughlin AFB. Unfortunately, I am in Helmand so there is plenty of time for planning.- Chaz

( Old fart ya know ) That price is for active duty, retired, or DOD employees. However, most places have a “fishermans rate”, the Regency, Amistad Lodge, Lakeview, etc. Look them up and give them a call.

Thanks for the reply J/P . — Since I never served , I guess Ill just have to search for some good rates outside the base . — I do however thank you emphatically for your service , and I think they should just GIVE you a place to stay if youre a veteran . — Our government gives away so much to so many that dont deserve it , why not give something to somebody that does ?!?!?! — Just my humble opinion . — Hoss
