Thought I would give a little shout out to a young man that I have gotten to know from this board. Have been talking back and fourth with him now for a couple months. He lives in New York. He inquired about my jigs a couple times and I sent him a few of them. Must have a very good up bringing and some very good folks also although I have not met or talked to either of them. After sending him these jigs I expected nor wanted any thing in return. I was surprised one day after coming home from work. There hanging on my door knob was a big giant loaf of some of the best Cinnamon Bread with some kind of frosting that goes on top of it that I have ever eaten. Anyway, this young man loves to fish and him, his brother and his father go all the time. He also fishes some tournaments from time to time. He had not been doing very well with these jigs I sent him and I had been giving him a hard time. Well, he went and did it. Caught some pretty good fish on my jigs in one of these tournaments and came in 4th place. Here is a picture of him and a very nice 4 or 5 pound bass that he caught. Got big fish for the tournament with it. All his fish in this tournament came on my Bluegill colored foot ball jig. This young mans name is Clayton Schuh and he goes by basscat 35 on this board. Congrats Clayton on the nice fish and nice picture. Hope to get the chance to meet you and your family next year if we all make it to the OI again in Mountain Home. Joey Watts PS: Clayton, do I get some more bread for making you famous. Think I still have some of the topping that goes on top !!!! Those jigs just plain put fish in the boat Joey! Sound like a nice kid. Hey, since youre his mentor, why dont you let him know how to handle a fish? Im not being I wise a@#, a lot of people are clueless when it comes to stressing a fishs jaw. You can teach him a great lesson. Great fish Clayton!
thanks 4 the compliments. didnt realize i was holding the fish that way was stressing the jaw just forgot but she swam off fine.
It probably is fine. From what Joey said I can tell you love our sport. Some of the pros are the worst examples for us in the way they handle fish for a picture. Great fish and nice to meet you.
Ive had the pleasure talking to this young man myself and share some stuff with him. Very bright person who has alot going for him. Clayton that is a very nice fish, which lake did that fish come from? Bob New York
that actually came from a local pond during a pond tournament. i just had a tournament on chautaqua 2day in which i won and had a 4.37 lber as my kicker not many big bags weighed in its. pretty tough there right now even though i caught 10-15 fish in all but only 1 big 1 under normal conditions i wouldve had 12-15 lbs. the lake is just turning over and we hit it right before a front it only took 9.15 to win.
Clayton, think I have it fixed now !!!! LOL Do not want your name misspelled when I am trying to make you famous now would we !!!!! LOL Take Care and Good Luck Joey
Congrats on the nice fish and finish Clayton. Thanks for sharing his story Joey. Good luck Clayton! Judd Lasiter
