1000 MCA is recommended by Merc.
We have made a statement on using the larger AGM batteries for better results. There are a couple, the Exide XMC 31 comes to mind. They we more expensive though last for more charging cycles. They have more long term amperage on those lesser 1000 CCA rated batts that dont hold up.
thanks, guess ill go battery shopping today!
Ive been using the 31s for a few years now. In my case, I needed new battery boxes. And you need some exercise before lifting them over into the battery compartment. But they do hold some serious juice for trolling, cranking, shoot you could probably power one of those 5000 watt stereo systems the younger generation seem to like. Or not… 2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
what is the minimum caranking amp battery reccomended for a 200 optimax.i heard there is to make sure all of the electronics have enough juice.it does have smartcraft and is an 05 model.thanks, john
If that is a Wal-mart battery that is problem-never-last-John
If it is not throwing a breaker then it is either battery or charger. We suspect battery, though verify the charger amperage input with an in line meter. That will answer one question, and be sure you check the water periodically. We refer to them as “never starts” . Please take no offense WMT guys!
water was fine. currently not using the on board charge, that it could have been the problem. however it has happened again using a different charger. having the bad battery checked and will warranty replace it tonight. have night tourny sat. night. last weekend at 10pm there were white caps during the pre fish. need a healthy TM, along with caution in the dark with all that wind. full live wells to all Greg
See the list in the FAQ section and be sure to get the largest one you are comfortable with.
On 2 amps it could take 24 hours or so, depending on the amp fall down on charger.
Thanks I figured as much just wanted to confirm…

Sears no longer has the Die Hard Platinum2011 BassCat Pantera IVwww.ChesterCountyBassMasters.com
That is correct that the Sears is no longer available and the list has hanged since that was produced a long time ago. Today we like the ProGuide or Full River brands, as well as a few others though all we know outside these are vascillating in quality.
Interstate batteries has earned a bad reputation around here it seems. My 2013 Eyra with 250 ProXS (HDS-12 Gen II Touch, HDS-9 Gen II Touch, Motorguide TR-82, no poles) came with a Interstate 24M-XHD cranking battery and 2 Interstate SRM-29 deep cycles. This past winter I noticed the starting battery seemed a little weaker than it should have been, so even though it never failed, I replaced it last week with a Interstate 27M-XHD. Since I was in there anyway I replaced the trolling motor batteries with SRM-29s. Prior to this new boat I was a Trojan man but since I had had good service (3 years) out of these Interstates I went back with Interstates and replaced all 3 for less than $500. Could not do that with the Trojans. Ill report back in three years, good Lord willing.RobertBassCatSC
