AGM Battery – Charger Question?

Time to replace my batteries that came with my 2008 Sabre FTD. I thinking about trying the Opima 31 AGM Battery. Will my on-borad charger still work with a AGM battery? Sorry if this is a dumb question…

Yes, though we are not a fan of the spiral cell Optima batteries. They cost more in trying to save weight and we feel the weight is a good thing for lead batteries.

Thanks BCB… I am looking for a good AGM battery that is sealed, one to many leaks before… Any suggestions?

I have (4) group 31 optimas in my boat and they are very good batterys. I fish 7 to 10 day at a time from day light to dark and have not run my batterys down. I used Dekas & Interstates and I think the Optima are the best I have used so far, but thats just my opinion.

The PM1 is made by Odyssey. Same battery as the PC 2150 check the stats. I have the PC 2150 for starting and PC 1700s (3) for trolling and they are awesome.

I have the 31m as my cranking battery and 3 27s for my 36v motor guide , I run a 8 hds up front and a 5 at the console with the lowrance lwx antenna plus my 2.5 Mercury 200 i never have had a problem once i upgraded my 27 optima to the 31 for my cranking battery, I used optima because there lighter and you dont have to worry about checking the water all the time. Rough water and batteries chargers make you loose water sometimes. But some people think agm batteries dont charge full like old fashioned batteries on some chargers.

The Optimas are pricy but the wieght I save is worth it to me, (4) group 31 will wieght less than (3) of most of the good group 31 out there which doesnt hurt the speed of the boat and balance and as long as “the wind is your friend” not you need 36 volt. The dealer I work with has alot of these batterys out there, I had a lot of question also do to fishing as much as I do. I know of one who has had hes in his boat sence 2007 and still holding up with no problems. During the BFL in April, I was flipping on Barkley, one bay all day (7) hours no running. with a HDS-8 & HDS-10 live wells full and pumping all day, the motor started the first crank. I was fishing the EverStar Championship last year on Wheeler, flipping docks all day my Deka AMGs gave up on me so I like the Optimas but Im sure other cam say the same about theirs but the weight a lot more, good for going under a bridge but I would rather save the weight.
