Prop help quick please

Folks, Ive been trying to get the setup right on my 225 Pro XS 06 Puma and have ordered a 26P Trophy to replace my 25P based on feedback on this page. I was only hitting 67 with two people full tanks livewels and tackle at 5750 rpms. 1/4 inch high on the jackplate. I thought the 26P was the way to go but Ive been told that I may not be able to load the boat on the trailer with this prop. I need feedback on this quikly as I placed the order today. Should I be using the Fury instead or go back with the 25. Are any of you having trouble loading the boat with this setup. Thanks

I have the same prop on my P-2. There is no problem getting it up on the trailer. You may have to play with how deep you put your trailer in the water, but if its anything like my Pantera, youll be fine.

If your worried about loading the boat on the trailer with ease then a 3 blade Tempest or Fury is a better choice than a 4 blade prop. With that being said, trailer depth also can play an issue.

I wasnt worried until I spoke to this guy who was running the 26. I thought Id seen others say they ran it and I thought the 26 was actually the prop that BCAT reccomended on this setup. Maybe they will answer. Thanks

They have different engines, different set ups (weight), and may desire different performance characteristics. Appears you are having a slip issue. 12.5% is not good and I suggest lowering the jack plate some and possibly trying out a new 25p prop. I would suggest finding a buddy and swapping props to try out and figure what you might want. If you dont have a buddy or a dealer to let you try out, then purchase a used prop off one of the swap/sell boards. Probably can get one for less than 300. You can also have props tuned to your spec for a couple hundred bucks as well. Good luck!

Ok, I got the 25P prop ordered and Im going to start at flush with the jack plate once I get it installed. A fellow I know that had this same boat told me Id have to put 2 solid plugs and 2 medium hole plugs in your PVS holes on your prop to prevent slippage when he boat breaks over coming out of the hole. does this seem areasonable for te 25P on a 225 Pro XS? Thanks

RJ, Go back and read Phils post. There is no “have to” since everyone has to nuance their set up. For instance, I ran a 26 T on my 225 and it did well. A friend had an identical set up and he liked the 25. I did not remove any plugs from my prop and he did. Oldtimer recently gave a great description of how to set up your prop with regard to hole shot and how to measure plugs to take out. Do a search, drop your plate, and enjoy total performance.

We think from your data that a 24 Fury might be worth a look. Though you also appear to have a motor a bit too high. It could just be your particular rig also. BCB
