Question about trolling motor swap and filling drill hole

Swaping a 2008 motor guide tour edition 82 (for sale at garage sale page!) for a new 80lb fortrex. Do you guys think the bolt holes will line up or will I have to drill boat or mount? Also, what are opinions of the quick release brackets minn kota has for sale?Other question is about filling drill holes on boat for cosmetics. I have a white top cap that I drilled about a 3/8″ – 1/2″ hole in while mounting an accesory that I want to fill in and make a close as possible to like new. Would you all use Marine tex, and if so can you gel coat over it? If not what other products are good that you could gel coat over?

Marine Tex will work on the hole filling and the MinnKota brackets seem to work fine. BCB

I swapped my 82# digital for a Fortrex. I did use the QD plate but installation was very simple. I did fill the MotorGuide holes with some silicone.

Take the right side plate off the Fortrex and the holes will line up. You may have to put a quick release mount or other type shim under the Fortrex to keep the arm off of switches.JohnJones Trolling Motor Services870 773 3474Motorguide/MinnKota/PowerPole/Lowrance/Humminbird
