I have been trying to get more speed out of my boat. My best top speed 74.5 MPH. I know the boat has more in it. Currently running a 26p Trophy 5850 Rpms. I have played with motor height and differnt props just looking for suggestions. I have played with trim and can drive it trimmed to 10 or trim it back down wondering if my motor is not high enough or i am missing something. Thanks in advance.

250 XB engines were true monsters and they are throaty, power thrusting, fuel hungry monsters. They produced raw power on major fuel burn. They were quick into the upper 70s however most were not 80 MPH rigs. We absolutely love them as engines and they will pull a major load. Will it be ale to put more ticks on the GPS. Well yes! Will it click lower 80s, we doubt it.

JMAC, you are talking about the 250 Pro XS or like BC stated the 250 XB? The Pro XS should get to tip 80 maybe with a Fury or Tempest? Light load? Full tanks, livewells or empty? Apparently there was a misread in the original post. The 250 Pro XS will usually ramp up to where you expect it. It just takes some set up work and there are plenty of folks on here with similar set ups and they should be very similar to your rig. BCB

I do have a Pro XS I own a 26 P Tempest currently as well as the trophy. I have not tried a fury yet. As far as setup goes where would ground zero be I have messed around so much I do not know were zero is anymore. Please give me some insite. Also if you know of anyone running a similar setup I would love for them to coment on the post as well. I am not a guy who runs with a ton of tackle I have maybe 10 plano boxes and a 8 rods. I switch out what I will not be throwing, for instance I do not have spoons and crankbaits in my box when I am Bed fishing. I just really wanna see 80 mph On the GPS this winter.

Then place your plates (angle) flush on inside back edge and outside front edge to start with. Pop that Tempest and make a ornament out of it, then stock a Fury on that propeller shaft for a similar base line to 2013 models with the same Gearcase.

get a 26 fury get the plate flush and work it up little at a time . My 03 with 250 XS would make 84 , I am putting a 14 250 pro xs on my 06 cogar now and will start playing next week with it, I havent had a Cat with 250 YET that wouldnt break 80

My only question would be whether hes at sea level or not, if hes a high altitude guy 80 is not realistic.

I run the boat anywhere from 174 ft elevation on the colorado river to 2000 ft elevation. I understand the elevation and air differences between hot and cold. I appreciate all of your input and will continue to post testing and results. I am pulling my injectors and having them gone through this week. Just a clean and testing. I am also picking up a 25P fury from one of my buddies to run and test. I will post results. Thank you all for helping me on my quest for 80MPH
