I am interested in this along with the Sonar Hub (Chirp technology) that Lowrance has. I will probably wait until next year and let them get the bugs out but it does sound interesting. They are also working on a Spotlight Scan that will work with an electric steer trolling motor. That is what I will need. Will technology ever peak out? Not sure a lot of things are necessary but you know how Boys and their toys are.Dan
Bumpnbtm, Larry, just purchased this. Technology will NEVER peak out. Those that dont advance will die.

Goodness, I sure wouldnt want to be the co-angler with that at the bow.
LOL! You will die either way. Sometimes advances are over rated and designed to suck guys into changing. I think everybody is guilty of that. DanGRR884 wrote:Bumpnbtm, Larry, just purchased this. Technology will NEVER peak out. Those that dont advance will die.
I try to consider how new innovations like this fit my style (if you could call hit and miss a style) of fishing. I honestly dont know about the Spotlight Scan being of value to me because of where I fish. Heavy stained water, shallow, heavy cover like grass and pads which require primarily very long casts. Ill have to see more detailed video footage on its capabilities and effective range before I can justify dropping more money on top of the SS I already have, and absolutely find invaluable at times. The Chirp sonar holds more promise to me simply because of the more detailed 2D images it provides. I see the value of Spotlight, but it aint cheap, so the jury is still out at the present for me. Hey, Im open to anything that will help boat more of the little green monsters.Next week the weather is supposed to break here and be in the 60s all week. Ive got 3 new St. Croix Legend Tournament rods with 2 AG Revo STX reels and 1 Lews Super Duty I havent even got to try out yet. Just finished installing Boca bearings (ABEC 5) in all the reels. Cant wait to field test those puppies next week. Like the wife says “One thing at a time. Pace yourself”.

i have heard the CHIRP really isnt that much more detailed until you are over 80ft. But, i cant confirm that.
Thats something to consider but Ill yield to the hype from Chrip till proven otherwise.
IMHO I think most new things on the market are over hyped to boost sales, and get a handle on projecting sales and numbers they should gear up to manufacture. It probably works whether it boosts fish catching or not. I have seen that sort of stuff in the Archery industry for over 45 years, but 10% of the hunters still kill the majority of the deer, with or without the gadgets.Dandownislandliving wrote:i have heard the CHIRP really isnt that much more detailed until you are over 80ft.
