a friend of mine has an 06 classic w/motorguide 71 troller. the light has burned out underneath the arrow. is this as simple as popping off the arrow and replacing the bulb? or is this a take apart the top of the motor? where is the best place to pick up the bulb? John

There are three screws under the top cap of the motor. Remove those and the top will lift right off to get to the bulb. Just remember to have the directional arrow pointed in the right direction when you replace the top. I had to replace the bulbs in two of my 36V motorguides this spring. The local service center wanted $3.50 each for the bulbs. Went to an auto parts place (Carquest) and got a box of 10 for about .79 cents apiece. Curt

Man that was cheap, usually they are .99 for a pair.

I found that after using the trolling motor for a couple of years I no longer needed the arrow to light up because I knew from instinct where the boat was going by where my foot was. The light also blinded me when I fished at night so I completely removed it. It may also save a little battery power without it. If you replace it follow the above directions and fish on brother….
