Flyswatter and I met at Aliceville lake today to fish and for me to get a taste of his Eyra/Sho. He turned the boat over to me for the day and took the coangler position and I had a blast!! That is one fine ride and the best riding boat Ive ever driven. I was amazed how well it took boat wakes and how nimble and quick it was. I ran it up to 77 with just a short WOT burst and it was like driving a Cadillac. That is one heck of a boat and Tom youre one heck of a nice guy! As soon as I can get away I look forward to coming your way to fish Lay, Tom. Thanks for a great day on the water.Last edited by gchagler on May 28th, 2011, 9:48 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Chris,It was a fun day for sure. You sure put us on the fish. Between the two of us we boated at least 20. Not bad for a blue bird hot sunny day. The Spro frog bite was entertaining but the green fish teased us with those explosions. You look like you were having a good time behind he wheel of my Eyra 250SHO. Man, didnt realize how hot it got on us today. It was 93° when we got off the water. Those Sport Drinks sure didnt last very long when I got in my truck to head home.
Tom, I had a good time for sure. You aint lying about the heat I killed that powerade when I got in the truck then stopped and got another, now Im sippin on these Coronas.
Enjoyed the post. Would like to hear comment on ride in the real rough stuff vs a puma ftd? Storage box up front size and opening to the sides? and Chris you look like a good size guy how is the room behind the drivers console when running? do you feel cramped at all? Thanks for info.
Ill defer that to Chris. He ran the boat the whole day so dont hold back Chris share your likes and dislikes. No boat has it all. I am very comfortable in my BassCat skin. Regarding rough water we really didnt spend anytime dedicated to dialing in the boat. However, we both being good size men we sure loaded down my boat today. I hope to visit with Doug McGee very soon as well as Billius. I guess this is going to be the Summer Eyras traveling tour. Man, do I come out ahead on this one. Great BassCat fellowship and wetting a line with some very good fisherman. I think I need to make a connection with Cougar22/Jim too. To be continued.Oh, one last comment. We finally finished the break in. I had 8 plus hours on my boat and at the end of the day we officially cracked 10 hours. Last edited by Flyswatter on May 29th, 2011, 2:00 am, edited 1 time in total.

Puma09, Ive never been in a Puma but it would be hard to top the ride of this Eyra. We werent in any real ruff stuff just boat wake but the Eyra just landed soooooo soft on that second wake. No hard hitting jar at all! It looked like it had plenty of storage to me and I liked the side opening coffin type compartments in the front. Im 5 10″ or 11″ 260lbs and I was very comfortable no problems at all fitting into the cockpit, very comfy. Tom, as for dislikes NONE! This boat rides like a caddy and handles like a sports car! Awesome boat and my pick for a 20 boat, hands down!
PUMA09, not to highjack a post but I have had my Eyra in some very rough water now on Rayburn (Phil as my witness) and my Eyra handled great! I was able to keep the boat on planes in the low 20mph range and never punched a wave. It always landed smooth unless you happen to get one at a funny angle. As a side not I never wore a rain suit and arrived at the ramp bone dry. The baot has a very dry ride as all BassCats that I have owned. (2 Cougars, 1 Puma, and a PIII) As compared to the ride of the Puma, I dnt really remember it being any better than the Puma and the Eyra is definatly more nimble. Very solid ride and I am very impressed with it. YOu wouldnt be dissapponted with either boat. Layout in my opinion is the biggest factor in purchase decision. The one thing I would give to the Puma is rod storage. The boxes are easier to get a long rod into. There is only 2″ difference in the hull and you wouldnt think 2″would make that much difference, however my wife says it can. Hmmmph! So if you have lots of flipping stiks or rods longer than 7 4″s take that into consideration. Tom I also realized I have been running my motor just a little to high and was able to get a little more speed out of it as a result. I have a hydrulic plate so it is easier for me to adjust but I got better results a little lower than were I had been at.
