I just bought a new Tundra. Does anyone know what the tow/haul switch actually does when turned on? I have been through the owners manual, and all I can find is a sentence saying to turn the system on when towing.
I dont have a Toyota, but in my Chevy, it changes the shift point when pulling a load. I also have a transmission temp gage and it lowers the temp of the transmission while towing. I always use the tow/haul switch when towing.Brian
Changes shift points to help keep you in the power band. Its also fun to drive in when you are in a hurry(but it does not help your mileage). Im sure it also helps in other ways as well
DITTO ON SHIFT PATTERN. KEEPS IN THE SAME GEAR LONGER THUS RAISING YOUR RPMS FOR YOUR LOAD , LESS STRAIN ON MOTOR WHEN TOWING EPECIALLY ON HILLS. WANT GO IN AND OUT OF OVERDRIVE AS MUCH.
All are replys are spot on, in addition. When you dreak it also goes through the gears like down shifting to for slowing or stopping. I see it more on a down hill stop.
