I have a question for you guys. I have a 2008 Cougar FTD with a merc 250 xs. When I switch tanks with the selector knob in the splashwell, I then push the tank button on the dash and it never switches on the smartcraft readout. I can hear what sounds like a click or switching when I push the button but the gauges never switch. About a month ago I ran out of gas, but I had just put gas into the right side tank and had the proper tank selected. The motor stopped like I had run out of gas but when I checked the tanks the gas that I had put into the right tank all moved to the other tank causing me to run out. Since then my dash switch has not switched when I push the button. What would cause the gas to move to the other tank? Is there a simple solution to the switch problem? Thanks

The fuel switch on the dash has nothing to do with anything other than the gauge. The splashwell is a valve and that determines which fuel tank is in use. BCB

On my Smart Craft, when I select from fuel tank 1 to tank 2, it takes about 10 -15 seconds to actually change on the gauge. Always been like that for me.

my guage doesnt switch two the number two tank on the smartcraft. BCB I understand about the manual switch in the splashwell, my question is why wont my smartcraft switch over when I press the dash button….and I do wait awhile but It never switches.

What happens when the Smart Craft Monitor calibration is completed? I believe it needs to be done in percentages too? Last edited by brewcat on May 30th, 2010, 4:55 am, edited 1 time in total.

We only use one of the gauges for fuel in the Smart Craft gauge. The switch on the dash regulates that. The #2 gauge should be a digital oil tank.
