I have a few questions about the set up: 1. I plan on using the big motor battery as the third one to conserve on weight. BCB has stated that they have seen no problems with this set up. Any other comments or experience would great.2. Can I used the 20.8 Gator mount with a 36V if I find one with out the mount? (I have found a couple of sellers that are offering motor without the mount)3. What kind of, if any, wiring problems will I run into or have to run? 4. How will I have to configure the existing wires? Thank you guys for any help you haveElwoodElwood…..Bass Cat Proud
1. Make sure you have an adequate cranking battery 2. Yes the 20.8 mount works good. We used to only use the 20.5 (prior) mount and did not offer the 21 Gator mount. 3. No problems just make sure the negative is the cranking battery on the lag. Then the jumpers are to the trolling with the 36 volt positive as the last troller. 4. Just reposition them and perhaps add a jumper wire witha breaker in the line. You may have to go to a 50 Amp breaker also.
Thank you BCB I may have to make a call or get a wiring diagram to make sure I dont burn anything up. I have a 25 Tempest on its way and after I sell the 23 Tempest I have sitting I will pick up a 36V….You can never have too much trolling motor!!! Thanks again ElwoodElwood…..Bass Cat Proud
I posted this on BBC also and I believe that I have been talked into giving a digital 82 MG tour a try. I have enough thrush it is just the fact that my batteries are not lasting on a windy day on a lake with heavy weeds. My current trolling motor is a 71 MG standard and I am wanting endurance. You probably already considered this, but just in case. Do you have deep cycle batteries with as much reserve capacity as you can get? Even great, and expensive, batteries like Optimas arent all that great keeping a charge running a trolling motor.
Thank you very much….I had settled on going with a 24v digital 82 but have run accross a digital 36v that maybe in my price range… ElwoodElwood…..Bass Cat Proud
