2003 225 Opti – Low Idle/ Dies

Have a 03 225 Opti and in the water in gear it will die at idle. Doesnt do it all the time but did it 3-4 time on intial start-up and 3-4 times when I killed it at the launch and restarted to load on trailer. Changed fuel filters and I am running Mercs quickclean in the gas.. Fueling at local station that does not have any ethanol….Any ideas?????

plugged injector, throttle position sensor maybe, fuel pump issue hard to say for sure over the net

This issue could be several things as Doug mentioned. Id recommend getting it into a cert. Merc tech ASAP to diagnose the issue and resolve it as we could sit here and “guess” all day whats going on with it….Sherm

What is the idle rpm when sitting in the water? If idle is where it is suppose to be take it in by the fact that you are asking this question.

Idle (in gear) should be 550 – 575. But, 2003 optis will be 25 rpm faster if they have a R70, R71, R72, R73 or 70, 71, 72, 73 series ECM.
