Whats the deal with what I am reading about the Yahamaha M Prop throwing blades. Just what I need on a new 08 Puma 250 Yamaha HPDI Series 2 to throw an ear. This boat has a 25M on it. Is this prop not worth a **** or what? Right now not to worried about speed need to learn how to handle the boat first. Should have good hole shot at lower elevations. Prop has me scared. Any info appreciated. Thanks
Not sure if that 25m is right for that VZ 250. I always Ran 27Ts on my 250 HPDIs. I got a 25m on my 08 P2 200HP HPDI. That prop sounds to small to me. I also ran a 26 Tempest on a Puma but found the 27 to be better overall. Just my .02. The M series has thinner blades I think and the T series has thicker blades. If I am wrong someone will be along to correct me.Last edited by Bama96 on December 12th, 2008, 11:23 pm, edited 1 time in total.
The elevations I fish most will be around 1000 sometimes a little higher some lower but mostly from Lubbock, Tx to Houston, Tx. What r the dimensions of that 27T1 and 3 or 4 blades.
I run a 25M on a 2002 Pantera Classic with 200 VMax. Its the original prop, and Ive never had any problems with it. It is actually my preferred prop on this rig. Ive not heard these stories you mention about the M series props throwing blades. Its been a great prop for me, and it is now over 6 years old. KentKent Charles 2002 Pantera Classic & 200 Yamaha VMax
We dont know of more issues with either propeller, and both series M or T will work on some set ups. No two are identical. BCB
I have heard of blades throwing on all of them at some point or another. Seems the subsurfacing isnt good for them Nothing wrong with an M series prop. That is one thing I have always done after putting the boat on the trailer and that is inspecting the prop for cracks, specifically where the blade meets the hub area of the prop. Keep and eye on them and as long as you dont have an impact most are good about showing something…not always but alot of the times you can see a crack forming before a blade will let go. misr posted pictures of a Raker here or on the BBC and I am not sure where it broke out it wouldve shown a crack before hand or not. Good luck and the Yamaha T props dont seem to be as prone because it does appear the blades are thicker. Judd Lasiter
NO NO NO NO. the M series should NEVER be run on anything more than a 225 hp engine. you should go to the T series yamaha prop, or another cheaper option is the Solas Scorpion. even a 27p Tempest would work great, or even better the 26p FURY. the mercury props work great on the yamahas and they can be apapted to fit the yamahas! t-series is a 15 1/8″ diameter tempest is 14 5/8″ fury is 14″ solas scorpion (indentical to the t series)
BCB does not suggest Solas propellers, We prefer the OEM versions. The 25M is approved for use by Yamaha on the 250 engines, and they do suggest the T series on most 250 applications for a bass boat. The diameter of a propeller allows for some surfacing though that is dependent on blade and hub design.
If Yamaha suggests the T series on most bass boat applications with 250s who makes the decision which prop to run, the dealer or BCB? Why would the better quality prop not be put on 50,000$ rig. Getting more and more confused on which prop. Any web sites to help me with this confusion.
Dealer usually makes the call on which prop to run based on the other boats like yours they have sold. Go get a 27T and run it and tell us the difference between the 2. Every boat is a little different and it depends a lot on weight in your boat. Also how high you run the plate.
