I fished a tournament this weekend that didnt start until 4PM Saturday afternoon. I headed out Saturday at 6 AM to check a few spots for later. I checked one spot and stuck a good fish on a buzz bait. Had a pretty good attitude at that point. Picked up left there and was headed back across the lake and the motor dies in the middle of the lake. Long story short my left side fuel tank that was full the night before was empty. It did take me 45 minutes of checking connections and other things before I realized that tank was empty. I never looked at the gauge because I knew I had filled it up the night before.Someone had stollen all the fuel out of that tank during the night at the hotel. I guess I never thought about it but boats are fairly easy targets to fuel theives.I will fill up before I launch from now on as not to give the theives a whole tank of gas.

Our security systems need to be extend to the gas fill cap some how. Glynn

there have been many cases reported here in birmingham where thieves pull up beside a SUV or truck (something well up off the ground) and then use a battery-powered drill to punch a hole in the tank. They get 50 bucks worth of gas, leave behind a $500+ repair bill…2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

I dont think their taking it out of the gas cap, all you have to do is take the fuel line off the motor put a nail in the end pump the ball a few times put the gas can on the ground and fill it up. I sure thats how its being done, they stand back a hundred yards and watch, if someone comes out and sees it they just walk away, if not they pick it up and go. (I am not a theif I have alot of cop friends)
