Talon install questions

I am in the process of installing a Talon on my 2013 P2 and I am not use if I am locating the adapter bracket correctly based on the instructions provided.1) the instructions say to position the 5/16″ washers over the slots on the inboard side of the slots (between slide master jack plate and elbow bracket?) after removing the external threaded jack plate side bar) Is this correct or should the elbow bracket be against the jack plate, less the washers in between?2) It also calls for the C and Flag brackets to be oriented as close as possible to the transom. I currently have the Flag, parallel, about 2-1/2″ from the transom. Too close or just right?3) when connecting to the battery, I already have a master switch for the boat that was factory installed. I would give it its own master switch, right in the battery area, if you dont gave the quick disconnect power plugs, def give em a cut off switch, they can and will deploy going down the road!!

I plan on installing the quick disconnect plug to allow removal of the Talon and wasnt sure if I could add it to the existing master switch, just to keep it from deploying and draining the battery during storage.It is suggested on the Minn Kota website to install a 30 amp switch, which I think would put less wear and tear on the plugs.Do you have any thoughts on the current bracket orientation to the transom?It seems too close to me. I may move it to 4″ from the transom. There doesnt appear to be any play in the bracket, but me pulling on it and a 1500 lb boat in rough water is a big difference.Thanks

I would move the arm out a couple of clicks, the parallel the transom with the flag like you have. This will get the bolts just a little farther from the rubrail. Otherwise, youre looking good.JohnJones Trolling Motor Services870 773 3474Motorguide/MinnKota/PowerPole/Lowrance/Humminbird

Mine is parallel like yours but is five inches from the transom as I wanted more clearance. I have no washer between the bracket and slidemaster. I am in the process of adding a battery cut off switch for the Talon, and plan to add the outboard and boat wiring to the cut off so that the cranking battery is totally isolated. Like Scuba said, do not tie into the boat wiring. Your install looks good.

Been playing with the bracket location to get more clearance from the transom and rotating one click with the C bracket puts the flag about 3-3/4″ from the transom.The problem is I cant get the flag parallel with the transom and it is on its last click.How critical is it to be parallel with the flag/Talon?

Turn your flag piece over the flag is not dead center and I put the washers on the outside of my L brackets

Thanks, that did the trick. It didnt occur to me to flip the bracket.
