Im installing some Power Poles on my rig. I was going to put the pumps in the back/bilge area. Towards the back right hand corner about 3″ from the side of the boat (to the right of my crank battery). My question is how long of a screw can I use here? The screws that come with the pumps are about 3/4″-1″ long. I may elect to give up my passenger side rear storage compartment and mount them in there. Its very congested as it is in the bilge area anyway. If I do this instead, how long of a screw can I use in the bottom of the storage compartment? Im obviously terrified of drilling right through the bottom of the boat if you couldnt tell.
