Hey guys, Whats going on. Looks like the board has been a little slow. I have been jammed up on a remodeling job for the last week and havent had much time to check out the board. Last weekend I fished my October Club Tournament and did not do very well. I knocked myself out of contention to win the end of year honors. One more to go and its our 2 day classic. I can still finish in the top 3 but I better get off of my behind and find a few fish if I plan on doing that. On the bright side, the Cat was screaming last Saturday. 75.4 mph with all my gear and a whopping 4.76 pounds of fish in the livewell. I was by myself though as it was an individual tournament. Still o.k. for a 7 year old Classic with a little 2.5 on it. Just wanted to say hello and Ill talk at yall later. God bless and enjoy the beautifull weather while its here. Chris, the board always slows a bit this time of year as folks move to other things. The end of the season events pick up traffic some, though some just dont get out much this time of fall. Then there are those who switch over to hunting and are out scouting and prepping their camps. It is a really great time of year to start early and fish till mid afternoon! BCB
Chris, What kind of prop are you turning. I have a 06 Classic with the EFI 2.5 and only hit 70 mph one time and that was my son by himself. I have the 25 tempest that came with it. I lowered the motor a bit to help with hole shot. Didnt hurt the rpms or speed that I can tell. My rooster tail seems a little tall.
Chris, I had my best tournament in my club this year. Caught a 7.1 at Kentucky Lake, New Johnsonville, TN last week. Had a total of 13.1 for a win. Had big fish for tournament and big fish in the club for the year. Nice way to finish the year. Also likely my last tournament in my club as I plan to move to Nashville in the next few months. The guys in my club are very special friends who mean a great deal to me. I have no interest in fishing tournaments (other than my club). We dont keep any fish. We are strictly a paper weigh club. We are inhibited by slots nor size limits (12″ are keepers). The rewards for winning are bragging rights not the $10 for a win. But competition is quite fierce. I will truly miss the Backlashers Bass Club, over 30 years old. Looking forward to coming back to Toledo Bend in March. Bill Hawkins Memphis, TN
Just got mine out of the shop this past week. Compressor went out. Good thing it was covered under warranty or she would still be setting in the shop !!! Ran my best numbers yesterday. This boat and motor sure do like this new prop and cooler weather. Had her up to 76 at 5600 rpms. Think I could hit 77 or 78 if I took a little weight out of this thing. Had both back tanks full, about 10 gallons in main tank and live wells full. You boys with those 250s better have them set up right and know how to drive them or I am going to give you a run for your money !!!! Take Care and Good Luck Joey
But Joey you dont weigh a buck fifty soaking wet!
Was wondering when somebody was going to make that comment !!!! What can I say Phil. When it came to physical size the good lord must have been looking the other direction when it was my turn !!! This darn boat and motor sure do like this 27 trophy though. Is a blast to drive !!!! Wish I was out fishing again today. Felt good to get back out on the water yesterday. Was kind of a slow day and kind of breezy. Caught about 15 with a couple decent smallmouths. Is a lot more wind today though and trying to get some wood split for the fire place. Suppose to be a good week with a steady diet of sun and cooler temps. Might plan me a little trip to Norfork in the next couple weeks. Hey BC, what is the water temps on that lake up there !!!! Those smallmouth should be ready to tear it up about now. Take Care Joey
Yep, they like those Trophy props and those Mercury engines like cool weather too! Its almost like another cylinder is added when the temps get down in the 50s. I had a 27 p Tempest balanced and tuned and tried it out last weekend. Its about 1.5 – 2 mph slower than the Trophy props that I run.
Guys, Those speeds were with a 25 Trophy, Balanced and Blueprinted. I spin it up to 62-6300 rpms. It has been my favorite all around prop for some time now. It isnt the fastest one Ive had but the best overall. If I could figure out how to get a 27 to get out of the hole I could really hurt some peoples feelings. The little 2.5 liter just wont get out with that 27. Your right Phil, This cool weather makes it feel like your motor gets another cylinder. Joey, I remember those days of being a buck-fifity. When I joined the military, I weighed a whopping 142 pounds and was 6 feet tall. Now Im 61″ tall but weigh 195. Something about working in an Oil refinery that just puts the weight on you. To much cooking and eating I guess. Dang Bill, You had one fish that was better than my whole stringer for my last T. Good job. I know there are some big ones up there. Im going to try to make a trip to lake Natchez soon with these cooler temps and get me a big one. Take care Gents. Chris Coupel Paulia, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
