I have been wanting a BassCat since I got my first bass boat. The problem was, living on the west coast they are difficult to come by and I cannot afford a brand new one. This January was time to finance a boat and I looked for two months before picking up a Ranger 188VX. I was not satisfied with the Ranger, although it was a nice boat, it wasnt a Cat!! I told a boat dealership, who does a ton of late model used boats, to be on the lookout for a BassCat for me. Within two weeks he found a 2007 PII with a 200 Opti coming up at a bank repo auction. I took the Ranger in to the dealership and put it on consignment with him. He sold the Ranger within a week and I got $2000 more than what I paid for it after his cut. The next day he went to the auction and brought back the PII!!! It was sort of a gamble, not knowing motor hours/warranty or how hard the boat had been ran, but the description and pics looked good so we went for it. The motor ended up having 153 hours on it and first sold in May 2008, it came with the extended warranty so I have another year left!! The boat was real clean and the worst thing we could find was some scuffs under the hull from beaching it!!! His guys detailed it out and it looks almost show room new now!! I took it home on Friday night and got it on the water Saturday. My 11 year old son caught the first fish on the new Cat and it was a HAWG!!!That one fish will wind up costing me about $600 because of two deals I made with him a couple of years ago. I told him the first bass over 3 pounds that he catches I will have reproduction mount done for him… Theres $350….. I also told him that if he ever out fished me on any day I would by him a Dobyns Champion Series rod…. Theres $250…. Either way, Im proud of him and the entire family is in love with the new BassCat!! Now to win a couple of tournaments!!
Double win it looks like. Congratulations.
I forgot to say this: I am soooo impressed with this boat!! My first bass boat was a 1999 Bass Tracker PT185, then I got a 1998 ProCraft 17 fish/ski, then a 1991 Champion 190, then a 1997 Champion 181, and this year the 2009 Ranger 188 VX. When I got in the Ranger I found myself missing my old Champions, except when the trolling motor was down (that Ranger did fish pretty well). Having only spent one day on the water with the Cat, I dont see myself reflecting on past memories of my old boats!! The BassCat excells in every area and exceeded my expectations!!! I dont see myself ever looking for another brand, Pierce Family: Keep up the great work!!!!!
sweet deal for both you and your son!! that is a hawg no doubt. what part of Cali? I have to get my boat detailed, but not until the off season for us Cali guys fishing is 12 mos. out of the year so i will be missing it when it goes in. haha
I hear ya regarding all year around fishing!! Im in the Fresno/Madera area, all of the good lakes and the delta within 2 hours! Where are you located?
Looks like you came out way ahead in your boat dealings! Nice!

Funny that you call this area Nor Cal, I lived in Red Bluff for a summer after high school and everyone up there called it So Cal. We call it Central Cal, everything from Bakersfield to Stockton.

Not only have I found a boat that I am extremely satisfied with, but it is backed by the best customer service/company in the industry!! My wife and I are already talking about driving out to Arkansas next year for the OI!! You all should consider a west coast OI, maybe at the Cal Delta or Clear Lake 😉
