Do you have a hyd. J.P. on your rig. Do you run a three blade prop. If so whats your prop shaft hight. I just went from a 25 trophy to the 25 fury and trying to get the best blast off out of it. Thanks Chris
Mornin Jig, Yesterday my tech took it out and ran it down the lake doing 79 to 81 mph, with no ticking. Stopped, let it idle and again no ticking. AWSOME ! He said they drop the lower unit, found a cranshaft seal on top leaking, replaced it and water pump, put new fluid in. He tells me the tick sound was coming from a bad hub. He took the prop off , and could not hear the noise, put it back on and the noise was there. Put a new hub on, and noise was gone. I find it hard to believe that a hub could cause a top end noise but he swears the noise is gone. Ill pick it up in the morning and go run it. If that is all that was wrong, Ill consider myself lucky !!! Ill post something tommorrow night for an update. Thanks for asking. Wyatt
Jig, I guess it was the prop hub that cause the noise, cause its gone. THANK GOD !!!! I was worried. I fished all day yesterday with “NO” problems.
A loose propeller is what they found?
BCB, Loose prop ? I check my prop everytime I go out. Is it possible that I hit somthing to cause it to get loose ?? Wyatt
glad you got it going and it was not any more than a hub good luck
Chris, Im running a standard 6 inch jack, no hydro with a 26 pitch tempest & a 27 trophy back up. Im in the market for one, just have not made my mind up to spend the $$$$$. !! Not sure on the height but Ill find out and repost. Wyatt
Thanks Wyat.
cpcat, You probably just need to tweak your some, and find that optimum range on height. All rigs are a bit different.
Yea I noticed his had the 250 on it. Question about the three blade. I have heard the Jag was tough to get on plane with the three blade. Last week i had a fair blast off with it with half tanks of fuel, live wells full, gear, and two people. Yesterday had the fuel tanks full and all the rest in there and it would not get on plane. Tried four different hights on jp up and down. The further i went down it seemed a little better. Would it sound right if i went all the way down on the plate. Will 1/8 0r 1/4 movement make a lot of difference. Before i had the 25 throphy. I like this three blade when its on plane . Is the 25 fury to much for the rig. Running a 225 Mariner .
Chris, I have a 225 Merc EFI on my 2000 Cougar and I am running a 4 blade 25 Trophy with a manual JP. Im on plane with no problems fully loaded and I may a little slower top end (not sure) but it runs fine for me. If you are looking for a good hole shot the 4 blade trimmed all way down throws me up and you know Im no light weight. Mike
Chris, Ive played around with jack plate alot. One thing I can tell you is that when I lower the motor, it does “NOT” like it a bit. It will start walking on me a about 59mph when its down. When I raise it up to where Im running it right now it will walk at 70 mph till I snatch it into the “SWEET” spot, then its have fun & hold on !!!! Ill try to get some measurements for you.Wyatt
Also, I do have all three plugs in the prop, I think 3/8 plugs, in case you were wondering. I was having some blowout with two, so I put the other one in. WB
