Has anyone got a 175 hp engine on a 2011 Sabre FTD and if so how does it handle.
The boat is in production with the new stripe similar to the Pantera hull. Though no pics are out yuet as the hull just started. The Sabre models are now open for production though and we were going to post this up until someone inquired previously as it was entering production. BCB
Mine does just fine with a 175, the 2011 is rumored to be 2-3 MPH faster. That may put a standard SC Sabre with a hot 175 in the ball park of 71-72 MPH maybe even better with some tweaking. How fast do you wanna go in a Sabre???
There are a couple out there in 2011 models, though we have not gotten a response on those.
I had just went thru the whole process on a 2011 Sabre FTD with a 175 pro xs and Ivan was thinking it should be a very HOT 175 powered Hull, john m is running 68 I believe fully loaded with big guys. The new Hull is about 3 MPH when looking at the 150 optimax numbers. Most will go with a 150 pro xs since it will rock n roll for a 150 powered 18. The sabre fishes larger than its internet dimensions show, the FTD is just top knotch for any 18 on the market. If your a Yamaha Guy a 175 hpdi would rock on her also……I sold 3 in 2008 with 150 HO E-Tecs and that was a killer package also. Just my 2 cents since this post was dying. Their are several FTD guys that prowl here so ask as many questions as you can come up with, thats what the board is for!!!!!!! Brannon
2007 Sabre FTD DC with more tackle and stuff in it than any one person should be allowed to put in an 18 foot boat. 175 ProXS turning a 24 Fury. The 2011 should bust 70 pretty easy according to the specs from the factory. You can tell from the 62.9 degree water temp this was not a winter time run. Hey Brannon, Someone is looking for info on a standard Sabre with a 115 ETECHO over on BBC if you have someone that can help them out.
The Pro XS just has a few ponies pumped in the ECU. Otherwise they have the Pro XS decal and we found they like Premium fuel too. They are identical in all other aspects.
You cant get anything past this crowd LOL. Todd I have the GPS set to show depth on top thus the 9 feet deep in the cove at Paris. My GPS will lose signal from time to time, that must have been one of those moments because the second number down should be current speed, thirds water temp, last is top speed since reset. On KY Lake Ill run on that map page a bunch and drop off plane and watch my front depth finder if I want to see something at a fast idle since my front puck is in the keel of the boat. Ive changed the 522 once losing that signal from time to time is just part of it. It normally picks it back up pretty quick.
BTW: Since you you the area and know the hull you know 9 means the water was still down and the Sabre will lose the bottom on the back depth finder at those speeds so using the split screen feature is worthless. There are some nasty areas around Big Sandy and running on full map helps keep you in the channel at a glance. Ill use split screen at lower speeds if looking for drops etc… If the TN house ever sells I plan on ram mounting a big SI unit like you have
Danny, long time since I have heard from you. Hope all is well, you looking to get into the Sabre? I have thought about it as well. I am still running the 2006 Puma I bought from you, no problems just not catching enought fish. Dont be a stranger.Jack
Thanks for jumping on here….John thanks for the UP but I no longer sell EvilRudes or Bass Cats, I moved to a better, bigger dealer with a vision, and the BCB thing didnt work out……Im sure someone in Texas can “Hook him up” with a 115HO Powered Sabre, that is a Killer package, my 115 Regular etec powered unit got 52mph, and the HO is a hoss compared to the std 115….Thanks again…Your Signature …
Jack I am glad you are still liking the Puma and I am glad you have not had any trouble out of that boat that was a very good boat. I have just been thiking about a smaller boat but I just dont know if I could give up the Puma I like it to much.
