17 foot boats dont usually rate 150hp and I dont expect this one to be any different. Therefore, its not going to compete with the Sabre. My bet is 135 max hp that will likely run in the mid 50s+ mph.

The grillage is the stringers and flooring that comprise the under deck structure. It has been originally determined to be at least a 125 rating. Long ago the goal wass to try and go to a 150 rating, though depend on the USCG test data to finalize that decision. If not then the regulations change in steps relating to engine weights and capacities. It is not a simple decision unless the boat is over 20 in length, then we can tag them safely with capacities and not pending actions.
