I had a OMC motor making noise like a rod knock. I thought I torched another VRO II motor. The plastic spacer under the flywheel was worn allowing the magnet on the flywheel to pull the charging coil in just enough to hit and make a knock eveytime time it went around. The noise was timed to engine rpm. I tore the motor down only to find out it was the plastic spacer under the flywheel. Ouch! So I used the “crisis” to go with 20 over Wisco pistons and other go fast tricks including engine block water port blocking. Motor was a breather – #72 high speed jets to keep up with the air flow. This confession was never made to my wife…Last edited by tswanson on February 3rd, 2009, 8:08 pm, edited 1 time in total.
