As disappointed with the BC decision, I am still going to enjoy the week of fishing with my wife. She literally started crying when I told her it was off, not because of the tourney but because she was looking forward to spending 10 days together. I run several businesses and time is a valuable commodity and honestly….I want to spend the time with her.If we have enough guys going we can fish our own tournaments. Make them a daily $10 to $20 per head type of deal just for fun and it would cover at least some gas money daily. If anyone is interested put in your vote and it does not matter if there are 5 boats or 100 boats showing up. Its about the camaraderie between the guys and we would all get to meet new fisherman and have a little fun. We have the chance to make chicken salad out of chicken………!We are going to bet there on the 13th and might even fish the SF tournamnet while we are there. Never seen the lake but I will give it our best shot.Think about it and if your interested give me your opinion.
My partner and I arrive tomorrow. Will fish the Cystic Fibrosis tournament next Saturday and, hopefully, a tournament the week after put on by the resort owners. Talked with Lou at Hummingbird Hideaway where were staying – he and other resort owners are trying to put together a tournament for BC folks who are in the area. Lou currently believes theres a 75%+ chance that tournament will happen dependent on Corps approval and enough interest from those of us in the area. I am doing the same thing. Spoke with Doug he told me the same thing. See you there.
Like most we are disappointed, but understand that BC feels the need to cancel. I was hoping they might do a smaller one day event, less prizes, maybe auction a boat for a charitable donation to help people affected by recent disasters, while giving those that can participate a chance to help out. As a BC owners its not about winning a boat ( we already are owners or we wouldnt be fishing the OI) but about the tradition, the preparation, the family fun! We would be interested in participating in a resort or individual organized tourney…..please keep us posted! Good luck fishing!
Arrived in MH this afternoon. Norfork is as high as Ive seen but clearing rapidly; not nearly as muddy as Table Rock with just a few floaters. The color looks very good, particularly in the back of coves/pockets. According to Lou at Hummingbird Hideaway the fishing is awesome. The resort owners and now the Norfork Lake Chamber of Commerce are actively involved with a possible tournament during the OI timeframe. Apparently theres a lot of interest from those of us who made or are making the trip. If you are coming to MH it would be a good idea to let your resort know if you are interested in fishing a tournament so that information can be funneled to the NL Chamber. Lou, who is a Chamber member, will let me know the Corps permit decision as soon as possible and Ill post it here. The tournament isnt the only reason we have been there for the last 15 years. We are not very good at catching fish. But, we are good at having fun. We are still coming up there again this year. We will be arriving on the 15th. Hope to see you there. That goes for you too, Dave.
I will be leaving on this Wednesday for the Systic Tourny. Then I will be back the following Wednesday if a tournament is going to held during the BCB time frame. It is only a 3.5 hour drive for me so I will be there plus I can stay at my dads so count me and my dad in. Getting my swimbaits ready now.
My friend and I are coming anyway and staying at Three Oaks and would fish a tourney.
Its on so see you all there.
