I appreciate anything you got. Like you, Im just out there for fun….for now anyway. I just completed my 3rd of my 7 night hitch at the hospital I work at in Shreveport. Ill be off starting next Wednesday and hopefully will get back on the water. Sorry I couldnt give you much more info than I did. You are welcome to holler at me at toledobasser@yahoo.com. Hope you guys are having a good week on the Bend.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
The last 2 days have been absolutely beautiful. Im almost scared to go out on the Bend….I dont know how to act without the wind blowing or the rain. LOL!! Im actually going to try to get out there some tomorrow and over the weekend if possible. Ill keep ya posted on my luck. Yesterday the water I was fishing last week in the low 60s was now in the mid 50s from all that rain last weekend. I went into a creek I havent been in previously this year and it was in the low to mid 60s. I caught a few 2-3lbs. The water has cleared up rather quickly. The rain didnt hurt the bite for the Oilmen from what I hear. It took just over 40lbs to win. The giant salvinia washed out of the back of Lanana and had the whole area around the Lanana bridge covered up. I hope they can get that stuff under control. I made a trip to Lake Bistaneaux with a buddy last year and we couldnt hardly find a place to fish due to that crap.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
last summer, ENTIRE CREEKS were bogged down with that stuff. i dont know how they can control it at this point.
did you get my email. im trying to schedule some more vacation for april 6-8 to hit the next full moon. ill bet those fish have already moved back shallow after that cold front, with these warm sunny days. nice to not have the wind blowing for a few days, i bet. keep me in the loop. joey
Hey, Joey. Ive been working nights since last Wednesday, so no I havent been out lately. The water has come up since I was on it last week. It was getting into the bushes and beginning to look pretty good for some flipping. Hopefully the warmer days coming up will get the next spawners to move up there where we can play with them. I was reading on one of Shaps posts that some of the guys were seeing fish on the beds around Indian Mounds last week before all the weather we got this weekend. I would think there will be fish still in the area where they were and then some others moving up into the newly flooded stuff. The last trip I made was last Monday and the wind was gusting to about 30. Thats typical for when I get on the lake…then when I want a wind in the summer I cant buy one. Anyway, that last trip I made, I went up into San Miguel. I tried fishing some points but the wind was so bad I couldnt do it effectively. About the only well protected stuff was filled up with the giant salvinia. I wanted to fish in there sooooo bad but it was just packed in there too much. Ill be getting off Wednesday and hopefully get back at them. I know there will be a lot of Oilmen on the water so I may do some exploring of some places I dont usually go. The boat is on the trailer because I need to change my lower unit oil and because I knew the bad weather was coming, so Ill probably trailer down south somewhere just to do something a little different. I know a few areas down there and want to look at some Ive seen on the map.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console

Just came back from a week long trip. The fish are up but not right on the bank. They seem to have locked down in the zone where the water was a few weeks ago. So just stay a couple casts off of the bank or brush and fish the 4-6 foot range and you will hit pay dirt. Wacky rigged senkos in Watermelon Red and Watermelon Candy along with some top water if its cloudy. We had our best luck in Sam miguel and 1215 areas. Lots of fish on the Indian Mounds too. Were you up there staying at Turtle Beach 2 weekends ago? Another thing, die a fluke on the bed, and after a while, curiosity, anxiety, and aggravation usually got the best of them!!! RonnieF
sounds like theyll be in the same spots i caught em three weeks ago. was on a sure-fire laydown pattern then. (man its awesome when you REALLY figure them out.) anyway, they may make a move to the bank as it warms and the full moon approaches. im so darn excited im gonna wet myself thinking about it appreciate the info!
I know how you feel Cajuncutter, I will be up for the LOBI this week and am anticipating a pretty good bite. I will be trying the same place we fished for the TOBI 3 weeks ago where I pulled a 7.93 pounder from (the water temp dropped 20deg in 2 days for that tourney). Good Luck. Joe Fuerst Houma, La
i stay in the alpine marina area on palo gaucho (tx side). usually fish near the bridge, carrice creek, and palo gaucho (and all points in between) got on a bunch of good-uns in blackwater cove. round two begins in four days, and counting.
