Well, I bought two (Pearl and Blue Gill patterns) of these at our recent Benefit Tournament and Auction for $35 bucks apiece. Since it was for a good cause, I broke my previous stance of never paying that much money for any lure. (Lucky Craft Pointers for $13-15 were my threshold). Note: I am using my own English “names” for the colors. Anyhow, over the past several weeks, I have been able to throw these new baits, and now wonder, “What was I waiting for?”. They are excellent baits, and for me, have already easily outfished my Rogues and Pointers. Our water temp is 42-43 degrees and clear–perfect for jerkbaits. I have been experimenting, by rotating similar colors of the three baits, and the Mega Bass is producing 3-4 times what the others are combined! I got a $100 BPS gift card for Christmas, and spent it on three (blue shad, black shad and Tenn Shad) more ($29.99 each at BPS in Columbia, MO) yesterday. Its too cold today, and I have to watch Missouri vs Arkansas, but these baits are definitely worth the investment. I may add one more color for dirty water, but that will be it. Gary Hollander
You better get two just so youll have a backup!!
95s or 110s ?
MegaBass makes the finest hard baits available. I got tons of em. This was my suitcase a few weeks ago coming back from Japan. He is the lute laid out on the boat when I got back. ! That is about half of what I now own. Oh Yea, MegaBass bait are WAY cheaper in Japan. The store I was in also had them marked 20% off, that is why I went a little nuts! Eric
When are you going back? Inquiring minds want to know! So I can start stashing $$$.
GARY, what size are you buying? All I see are JAP names, not what you have mentioned. SAMBAYOU BANDIT
Hey Gary Ive been on the water every day for the last 10 days and been tuning up my jerk bait fishing with some good results. Some days I have real good luck on 110s MB and others they will not touch it. The bites been a little better on the Lucky Craft 112 Slender Pointer. If the fish are hitting on the pause the pointer is working better if they are hitting it on the jerk the Mega-bass are working better. The finish on the lucky crafts are so poor after a few cast a good portion of the finish will be gone from the hooks rubbing against the sides. It just seems like a 20 dollar lure should hold up a little better. But they both are killer baits!!! Phil
Gary, I did well last year at LOZ with the Bomber Long A color #52 (Pewter Pearl). This bait has been the best jerkbait for me on all clear reservoirs. The price is only 6.99. I have fished the megabass, lucky creaft, rogue, and the Bomber and the Megabass have produced equally.Last edited by jagzz4 on January 2nd, 2008, 2:34 am, edited 1 time in total.
Megabass 110 jerkbaits are JUNK, but I will take any donated 110s that anyone is giving out, LOL. All joking aside, I have caught lots of fish on the 110 and have won a bunch of money on them. I have almost 50 now ( Im trying to catch up with Ivan, who has over 120). I have a tournament, practice and never leaves the home box of them. Good luck in 2008 on them, hope you catch a giant on them because the bass and the people making a killing on them on Ebay seem to love them !!!Last edited by mojorig on January 2nd, 2008, 3:03 am, edited 1 time in total.
LOL Gary…….lots of good jerkbaits out there. For the shallow stuff, I really like the X rap over the pointers…… The ito110 is awesome. One overlooked bait is the staycee by LC……my biggest smallie (6- came on that in the American Shad color. If you are getting jiggy wit it….some other brands to try include: evergreen,Bells, river2sea, Duel, Zenith, OSP and Jackall. I think the best value in all of these is the river2sea GGG PS, Eric, you are sick man! When are you going again? can I send my order with you lol?
