This weekend Stray Bullett and I went down to Venice,La to smack some bass and a few redfish. We started the morning in a spot, and decided to head “Down River” via a “Short Cut.” We run out the back of the canal in to Andres Pond and it does not look good. Stray Bullett said go left and I was just trying to find 1 foot of water. Well I should have listened to Stray Bullett.Mike Brown (Blue/Silver Cat) in his new Cat was following us (sorry Mike). Although my boat looks the worse we were able to use our muscles and “push”it 100+ yards to a spot were it could float. Mikes boat was stuck in sand and had to be pulled off w/ an airboat, thanks to the La. Dept. of Wildlife/Fisheries.After we were free (11:30 am) we still went down river and had a great day flipping canes and grass. We caught 30-40 bass and a few redfish in each boat.Mike seemed to be a little heart broken (3rd trip in new boat) but all was fine. Not a scratch on either boat, just a little mud on the Cat.
We went down also, fished out of Empire and Buris canal, brought back 30 reds and some big flounders, caught everyting on chatter baits with cocahoe plastic on back, 1/4 oz works best in the shallow water, caught everything in 3 or less. fished out of our bayboat. Through back at least 30 more with one 25 lber.BAYOU BANDIT
I would be just sick. Ive been in areas where that could happen down here over on the Tensaw Delta, I try to watch things pretty closely though. Glad there was no damage to your boats.
Morals of this story are, If a local says go left,,,,go left ! Also, dont follow me or Kevin ! Also if u go with me,,,,wear sandals and pack a lunch !p.s. Id flush the Merc real good on a hose and make sure thermostats close properly.
