I have a 95 P2 with a 200 Evinrude Vindicator on it I found a 225 E-Tech that has 9 hrs on it for $2500.00 only thing the man said it went under water and prev owner sprayed diesel in it to lube it this is a complete engine minus controls and oil tank. Will my P2 handle it, is it worth it or what. All you Cat owners lets here it I have not commited to the motor yet told the man I need to check and see if what it would take. Thanks all input would be appericated, theres nothing wrong with my 200 but if I can get this motor for that price and go through it wont have to upgrade boats for a while
Your boat will handle it for sure. Im not too sure however about buying a motor that has been submerged. That would be a chance you would have to be comfortable with. I had a 115 johnson fastrike that went upside down in salt water for 17 hours and after that I took it to the shop had it checked out and it ran great for the next 2 years that I owned it. But, that was a carburated motor and no fancy computers like the E-Tec. The performance gain with the 225 would certainly be an eye opener and you would love it. Check with your insurance first however and make sure they would still cover you!! I would have trouble passing up on that price. You could sell your 200 for that and break even for sure.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
How much $ for some new 200 e-tec stickers!! If it runs, do it and let us know what kind of performance #s you get out of it.
In the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us through the struggles of former years.”Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional illogical minority, and rapidly promoted by an unscrupulous main- stream media which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

Contact Brannon, he will get you in touch with somebody at BRP that might be able to help you out.Brannon —cell-920-295-2069 “Day or NIGHT” worner_brannon@yahoo.com I know that BRP has motors that are mfg for the military that can be dropped in water for weeks but not sure which components would be sealed.Any idea how long it was submerged for and how long it has been sitting since then? Also is your 95 even rated for 225?
The PII is rated for a max of 200 hp so you will be overpowered. Doing so may cause you issues w/ tournament and insurance. Not to mention safety concerns.
rlb8s, You are correct with the issues that could be encountered with tournaments. Some tournaments would not allow you to fish with an “overpowered rig”. But, do you really believe that going from a 200 to a 225 would cause safety concerns? I cant imagine a P-2 powered with a 225 would be any less safe than a Bullet, Allison, Stroker, Blazer, Gambler, Bass Cat puma, cougar, with a 250 on it. I mean there are countless numbers of Allison XB-2002 and 2003s with 260, 280 hp motors on them. Im pretty sure the P-2 can handle the 225 safely. I know of several with 225s on them and they handle it with absolutely no issues at all. Please dont take my comments as being abrasive. I do respect everyones opinion. Its just that we hear comments about safety all the time and I feel the safety comes from the driver more than the boat and motor combination. Mine however is just one opinion and I am probably the minority on this one. I just cant shake the speed bug. Ive tried and I just aint satisfied with the norm. Take care yall and good luck with your decision Cowboy.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
INSURANCE??????BAYOU BANDIT
I would be most concerned with all the electrical components, alternator, wires, etc that arent suppose to get wet too.
