Okay,so I have run BC for the past 10 years and have never had the issue I had this past weekend.I take off and the boat ( 07 Puma) planes out quickly (as usual with the 26 Fury), and then once I have her running decent with the Trim gauge reading about 6.0 and at about 4900 RPMS the boat begins for the next 500 yards or so to NOTICEABLY steer right and left. I quicky look down to the gauge to make sure I dont have the Detwiler set too high..Nope set as I normally would…I back off the throttle, get control and continue and the issue goes away???Any thoughts??Thanks,
I had a similar experience once. It turns out I hit a small piece of floatin wood and it was impaled on the leading edge of the lower unit. Really made for a freaky few minutes
Just like JHVA I had a log impaled on the lower unit once and did a neat 360 left hand turn before the kill switch pulled, I was thrown to the front deck in front of the passenger console, when I raised the motor it fell off. It was a ride I will never suggest to anyone at 50 mph.
Appreciate the suggestions, and I will just have to try it again this Saturday and see what happens. BC, I do have one question, how much play should there be in the steering wheel? Mine seems to have about a 1/2″ or so, is that normal? Thanks,
