Howdy all, was hoping a smart dude or dudette could maybe help me out here.My new TO ME Puma has a bird 997 at the driving console and a bird 931c up front. Love the unit, but it will not read my Nav Prem North Chip. The 997 will, and they are linked, waypoints will show up on both units but the map line from the Nav card will not. When I put the Nav card in the 931c it will not read it. Is this because of late/older softwear? Currently 3.940, however that too is what the 997 has. I assume now that the 931 is not designed to accept a map card even though it has a space to put a card. I hope to call Hummingbird some time today, but was wondering if any of you may or may not have the answer to save me from sitting on hold for ever.. LOL

Maps unfortunately are not transferable through the interlink nor can they be shared. Each unit has to have its own map card, in the unit. On why the 931 wont read the card when you enter there, I am not sure.

I believe that the 931 is a trackplotter only, it doesnt support mapping. I have a 981 up front that works the same way, but has side imaging. I have mapping on the console with the 987SI and the interlink to swap waypoints in both units, but the maps dont transfer over. My 981 also has the SD card slot and works for loading the updates and taking pictures of what is showing on the screen. Once you get used to SI you will never want to go back to regular sonar. Mike

It is our understanding all 900 series should have mapping ability. Though we are shooting from memory and subject to a mind freeze there. You may have to access it in the menu and turn it on. BCB

The 931 does not support mapping. The 937 model had mapping support. The same relation as the 987 to 981.

I too have the 981 and it does not support mapping . Great unit though .
