I couldnt fnd the post… but I remember recently seeing a post about someone wanting a rod organizer for a Cougar. Not wanting to spend the hundreds of $$ for a rack, and having had some success with a previous boat, I built a template this past weekend and fitted it with some tubes. I had done this previously in a Stratos 201 and it served its intended purpose, which was to end the frustration with getting the rods from the locker to the deck. Thats it. And it works. I have both a paper template, as well as this 1/4″ panel. I purchased a plastic sheet to be cut and fit from this panel, but the pressure fit with the panel install was nice enough to leave for now. I took the boat for a ride yesterday, and all went well… no more shifting or tangling of the lines… Amen! If anyone is interested in building their own, this whole setup cost less than $15. and works like a charm. I put some pics in an album if youd like to see the panel fitted (its not finished of course, but youll get the gist…) this is a pressure fit – no screws, glue or epoxy. Once I get the permanent panel installed, Ill add pics. With the golf club tubes installed, there is no movement of the panel at all…. This setup contains 12 tubes for my longer rods – mainly the baitcasters, and a loop with no tubes on the right for a couple of spinning rods.
