I was Fishing Sunday Been Fishing All Day With No Problems Bought My Cat From Mike Sanders And I Love It . About 1 PM Some Fish Starting Schooling Pretty Close By so I turned the Trolling Motor on High and Started Towards Them i went to turn to the left it would turn the pedal would move so i turned it to the right no problem went to straighten it up and the trolling motor did about 2 360 real fast and smoke came pouring out the head of it like said no problem all day untill this so took it to Jones Trolling Motor first thing monday morning the authorized motorguide service guy he took the cover off of the head the cable had broke wrapped around the power cable and sonar cable on my tour 109 36 volt burnt the wires in too. He told me that motorguide does not warranty broke cables and that they was not going to cover the repairs that were going to run about 625 Dollars . Like i said the trolling motor is 8-10 months oold not a scratch on it shaft is not bent it is prefect and i have not even hit anything with it and they nwant even cover the repairs. Mr Jones said that what happen it the cable proably broke and then jumped off the sproke it and wrapped around my wires and cut them. you know i think it is pretty bad when you spend that much money on a mtrolling motor and they dont stand behind it becuase it was that old so it had to be a faulty cable but in closing i just wanted to get this off of my chest and i would never ever buy another motorguide as long as i live and wouldnt have a trailer truck load of them if they gave them to me
blackpuma, We may not be able to help, though please contact [email protected] and give them both your boat and troller serial numbers. They will intervene. They also will need to know how to get in touch with Jones Trolling Motor. Though they may know how in house at BCB, but make sure they get the info. BCB Admin.
I switched from MG to a Fortrex last year and like it a lot, so you at least have an option. Mike
I understand the frustration, but you can not take the word of a dealer as gospel. My sugestion would be to contact motorguide directly (or at least a supercenter first) one of the best in the country is Motor Clinic in Bloomngton MN ask for Mark and tell him Denny sent you 952-881-0898, if you cant get help from BCB and explain it to him. Warranty covers shipping as well and Im pretty sure he will get you taken care of. I had that happen a few years ago and it was all covered under warranty so dont sweat it to bad. If you still get nowhere send me an email and Ill see what I can get done! I also may be able to come up with a spare you could run if it takes a long time. bigbass225@yahoo.com Denny
I have had a couple of issues with my Tour Edition in the 9 years that I have had it and Motorguide has always stood behind it. I had Joe Smith from Motorguide replace a foot once at the owners invitational back in 2002, and when I had issues with a couple of years later I got Motorguide to replace the analog system with the digital board at their cost. The one thing I learned was that the repair centers had a much differnet attitude in dealing with me when I had a reference number from Motorguide. I would recomend that you call Motorguide and tell them what the issues are and see if you can get some resolution. I used Gulf Coast Trolling Motor in Houston, Texas.I would certianly take up BassCats offer and contact them and see where that takes you as well. I hope it works out for you.Mike Coffee
That would probably be Jones Trolling Motor Service in Texarkana, TX. He is a moderator on the BBC boards and Cat owner. Ive only had one experience with him and it was good, he was helpful. That is judging by blackpumas recent posts regarding north Texas. Updated profile would help. There is a good service in Little Rock area as well but may be too far.Tough thing to have to go through, hope it turns out for the better.Last edited by jignpig on May 26th, 2010, 4:04 am, edited 1 time in total.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

Hooks, Tx. I have a brother in Texarkana, he runs a bumblebee (malibu red/yellow Cougar FTD/250XS). I agree too, I would try to call Motorguide directly with the serial # and explain to them…worth a shot at least to bend their ear. BassCat may try to help intervene as stated. Keep us posted!96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
