Topic: Help funny noise on hull

My buddy just puchased an 07 puma, we were going over his new purchase and realized an oddity…. we went around boat kinda bumping our fists under the rubrail, and came across a section with a bad hollowed out noise… the location of the problem was just under rubrail in section directly even with the drivers console…. It sounded like rivets may be loose… the boat only has 100 hrs… I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or if it is supposed to sound unstructurally secure like that?

I had a noise in the gunnel wall of my 91 Sabre that turned out to be the PVC pipe that carried the wiring to the bow. Mine would rattle at times. If I remember right, I reached into the rod locker and put my hand up the inside wall and felt the PVC. I put a piece of foam between the PVC and the side wall and that stopped the noise. I might have felt it from under the console, but it was where it could vibrate on the gunnel wall and the foam stopped the rattle. This may not apply to current model Bass Cats. Skipjack

We do not place foam in the open hull and some of the boats are able to have a drum effect. The area is basically in between petitions and we do not suspect anything is an issue there. That is not a problem, though more of a characteristic we think. The deck should be fastened well, and the rub rail should be both riveted and through bolted. BCB
